Employment: Full Time

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Sales Manager - Groups & Events is responsible for generating budgeted banquet revenue for the groups and events department through business development and management of direct reports.

The position is responsible for the training, development and performance of the direct reporting personnel. It assists in making operational decisions on business within broad parameters.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist the ADOS - Groups & Events in development/implementation of annual budget
- Preparation/forecasting and re-forecasting of banquet revenue objective
- Setting teams Events (Banquets) Revenue/Goals
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis
- Identify prospective customers and establish revenue goals for existing key accounts and key prospects within their specific market segment
- On a regular basis check if the direct reports are sending out correct proposal, contracts BEO\\s and Resumes as well as other correspondence
- Assist the direct reports in negotiating and closing business
- Ensure delivery of expected guest service through follow up and coordination with other hotel departments
- Maintain positive relations with all Guests, Vendors, Colleagues and National Sales offices
- Development of a motivated, competent stall consistent with hotel, regional and corporate needs through implementation of approved HR/Sales Training programs, the Conference Services/Catering incentive plan and a planned career management process.
- Improve communication through attendance at weekly Revenue Management/Rate Strategy meetings and regularly scheduled Sales & Marketing Departmental meetings
- Develop and implement effective lead management systems
- Participate in event related exhibitions, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations

Administrational:

- Oversee the preparation for the events team weekly sales activities and weekly reports
- Monthly sales team targets together with the ADOS - Groups & Events within the Events Framework

Operational:

- Communicate new or amended procedures to relevant departments/colleagues in a timely manner, ensuring they have been understood
- Liaise with operating department heads on issues of quality standards, in order to continuously meet and exceed guests expectations
- Supervise and guide events colleagues ensuring that they adhere to SOP's established by the hotel
- Keep close contacts with F&B, Finance and other Departments as required
- Attendance at Senior Management Meetings as deemed appropriate by ADOS - Groups & Events

Financial:

- Assist the ADOS - Groups & Events and Director of F&B with the development of departmental expenses
- Assist the Director of F&B with setting of banquet budget and monthly re-forecasts
- Check accuracy of bookings in the system with the aim of maximizing yield
- Attendance at the weekly yield meetings

Other Duties

- Perform additional duties as designated by Senior Management

Requirements

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

- Working knowledge of Opera, Word, Excel, Meeting Matrix and PM systems
- Good understanding of all hotel departments particularly F&B, banquets and kitchen
- Must have strong interpersonal skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A team player with a positive attitude
- Must be organized and ability to work and follow systems and procedures
- Self-motivated, creative and confident, with a highly energetic personality

QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong leadership, dynamic personality and excellent inter-personal skills
- Has reputation for integrity and a proven role model.
- Problem solver and highly organized and ability to multitask
- Bachelors degree and/or Hotel Management degree desirable
- Opera 4.0 version, Delphi/Fidelio and computer literacy required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 2-3 years of hotel sales experience in an Senior Event or catering sales role, having had varied market mix experience in a large full-service hotel
- Strong experience or adaptable training in the use of automated systems, PCs and office products, e.g. Excel, Word
