Employment: Full Time

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Secretary General is responsible for the leadership, and delivery of world-class support services, with high standards of efficiency and effectiveness in support of the academic mission of the University. The purpose of the role is to lead the Operations Division, encompassing human resources, finance, estates and facilities, information technology services and customer happiness. The role holder will lead the development of services overall and ensure delivery of the divisional strategic plans and operations, anticipating and addressing challenges and changes in requirements and implementing strategic decisions.

The Secretary General advises the Executive Leadership Team & Senior Management on the latest operating models and technologies necessary to ensure that research, teaching, facilities and campus life are supported by excellent business-oriented services, systems and processes that will help the university achieve its academic and research excellence objectives.

The successful candidate will have significant leadership experience and demonstrable previous success in strategic planning and change management in order to provide appropriate advice to the Vice Chancellor and Senior Management. He/she will support the translation of strategic initiatives into operationally aligned delivery plans. He/she will be capable of leading the improvement of organizational efficiency and competitiveness through effective management of the university's physical and digital resources and services, ensuring effective liaison and coordination across all Divisions and Offices of the University. He/she will also have knowledge of, and experience in, implementation of the relevant legislative and regulatory provisions to ensure the University meets and exceeds its obligations as a federal institution.

The successful candidate will also be an outstanding communicator and leader, able to maintain a wide range of collaborative relationships across the University and beyond, as well as to manage the staff of the Operations Division itself.

Requirements

Minimum Qualification

Masters' degree in Business Administration (MBA) or PhD in a relevant discipline from an internationally recognized institution

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

Applicants will have a Masters' degree in Business Administration (MBA) or PhD in a relevant discipline from an internationally recognized institution. In addition, they will have demonstrable experience in University Operations and working knowledge of Finance, HR & IT with at least 5 years' experience in a leadership position in operations in Higher Education or related work experience.
