Job description / Role
Leading Retail/Hospitality
NTS Group are working exclusively alongside a leading retail group in Abu Dhabi to recruit a Senior Accountant for the team. Reporting into the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for the following duties;
• Assist Finance Manager in establishing appropriate procedures and controls within the department, which ensures that all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the books on a timely basis and are adequately supported.
• Ensure presence of adequate internal control procedures for financial accounting and compliance with the established policies and procedures
• Supervise all the activities of subordinates to ensure all transactions are accounted in QuickBooks ledger in compliance with the accounting standards adopted by DIG.
• Supervise month/year-end closing of accounts related activities to achieve the targets scheduled in coordination with other team members within Finance departments.
• Administer QuickBooks General Ledgers of all the group locations i.e. Head Office, and Branches, which includes the updating of the group locations, opening and closing of accounting periods in the system, appending, modification and closing of posting cycle for the journal vouchers.
• Supervise the input of transactions into QuickBooks General Ledgers.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of period end accruals in QuickBooks Ledger as well as reversal of such accruals post period
• Review and approve inter branch transactions, allocation and incorporation of the same into QuickBooks General Ledger.
• Monitor allocation of charges and subsequent clearance from suspense accounts.
• Review inter office current account statement, and reconcile the same on monthly basis.
• Review and approve the calculation and application of the allocated percentages to common costs of the branches and their allocation to the head office.
• Supervise the processing of all the payments and incorporation of the same into QuickBooks General Ledger.
Requirements
• Professional qualification: Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Finance or professional certifications such as CPA
• 5-6 years of relevant industry experience of which 2-3 years should be in a supervisory role
• Good financial and managerial skills, and have SAP experience.
• Working knowledge of International Accounting Standards
• Understanding of accounting practices in the services industry
• Proficient in English language
• Proficient understanding of QuickBooks, Tally or Peachtree
