A specialist Marine Contracting and Manufacturing business is recruiting for an exciting new role with great potential, working alongside the Finance Director to take the business to the next level.

The core purpose of the role is to translate the numbers into actions. Day to day responsibility for standard accounting entries and reporting are a given, but you are expected to go above and beyond this by delivering value-adding analysis. Your reporting and analysis of business performance (the right information at the right time) will be the guidance that drives decisions and directs the Senior Management Team towards making the right decisions at the right time. To do this you have to be a self-starter, identifying focus areas and developing analysis that drives action.

Responsibilities

• Produce error-free accounting reports and present results.
• Assist with the interpretation of accounting standards / promulgations (IFRS) and ensure accurate application of standards to accounting entries and/or reports.
• Responsible for month end adjustments, including project progress billing / unearned revenue assessments, inventory valuations, provisions, etc.
• Participate in analyzing financial information and provide insights to the Finance Director / Management Team
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assist the Finance Director in preparing financial statements, budgets and forecasts according to schedules. Take ownership of entering and managing the budget / periodic forecasts in the accounting system.
• Carry out month-end and year-end close process, including the preparation of the monthly report with the assistance of the Finance Director where needed.
• Assist the Finance Director in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Support Finance Director in improving financial procedures and implementing new controls or initiatives.
• Proactively identify areas for business improvement or insights. Carry out analysis and make recommendations on potential improvements.
• Prepare and submit weekly/monthly and ad hoc reports within prescribed timeframes, including carrying out additional analysis, charting and/or modification of reports produced by the accounting system into more comprehensive management reports.
• Where needed and for areas not covered by other team members: Carry out all core accounting tasks such as Verifying, posting and reconciling accounts payable and receivable
• Issuing Invoices/Delivery notes and other documents as per company policies & procedures.
• Reviewing & encoding expenses, petty cash entries, payroll records, etc as required

Requirements

• Experience in Contracting or Construction mandatory - Minimum 3 - 5 years' working experience in similar role or with demonstrable proof of steady progression in UAE/GCC in financial systems & budgets, financial data analysis, financial reporting and/or auditing.
• Bachelor in Accounting, Finance or relevant major. CPA/CA qualification is desirable.
• Prior experience with QuickBooks Enterprise is a big plus.
• Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS) is essential. Knowledge of UAE laws and regulations is desirable.
• Ability to communicate clearly, explain financial concepts to non-finance staff, and produce reports or commentary that offers insights that are clear and easy to interpret by all relevant staff.
• High Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proven experience in problem identification and analysis.
• Able to work under stress, and a team player attitude - a demonstrated ability to develop pragmatic commercially-focused solutions with team members is essential.
