The Challenge

Mubadala's ability to operate effectively in the local market and region is contingent on effective written, verbal and visual engagement with stakeholders in Arabic language.

As a co-lead in the Arabic Communications team the position holds the responsibilities of supporting all communications in Arabic across the entire Mubadala portfolio, this will include providing strategic and creative input on communications campaigns, overseeing the development, review and approvals of all written and visual Arabic materials, and providing guidance to the business on the appropriate tone and language to achieve specific objectives.

Issues & crisis management with Arabic stakeholders, and training and development of colleagues across the Mubadala group that need to communicate in Arabic to insure institutional capability.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage with the all areas of the business through platforms and corporate communications leads to obtain a detailed understanding of Mubadala's sector and division business activity across the portfolio, in order to develop and deliver results based communications, and provide guidance on alignment with corporate messaging in Arabic.
- Support Mubadala's Emiratization commitment within own team and across unit, including through knowledge transfer and coaching/development of junior and mid-level team members.
- Projects manage Arabic communications activities and be an active member of communications working groups across Group Communications.
- Review, edit and proofread translations both independently and in collaboration with other team-members to ensure the quality of translation conforms to the Mubadala standards and is in the appropriate tone and style for Mubadala and its target stakeholders.
- Support Arabic translations requests when in-house translator is at capacity. On rare occasions when business demand exceeds in-house team capacity you will manage external translation requests with agency partners when required.
- Translate and occasionally develop with guidance a variety VIP & urgent documents ranging from official correspondences, speeches and talking points clearly and accurately at short notice, where necessary seeking clarification from the originator of the document or request in order to ensure the translated text reflects the actual meaning.
- Work in collaboration with communications business partners to advise on positioning and any editorial changes in advance of making the change to ensure all parties agree in advance.
- Provide support, tools and where appropriate, training, to help increase understanding of Arabic and its use - both within the unit and, where appropriate, the organization.
- Initiate self-learning through research, project discussions, meetings, etc., thereby actively developing rounded communications skills and gaining exposure to key aspects of the business.

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and experience

- Bachelor's Degree in communications or related field;
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in communications-related areas with experience of all communications disciplines, including media relations, marketing, advertising and government relations.
- Minimum of 5-7 years relevant working experience within the United Arab Emirates.
- Outstanding ability to translate from English to Arabic (classical) and vice-versa.
- Creation of classical Arabic content from origination (not translation)
- Excellent overall communication skills, fluent in Arabic and English (written and verbal).
- Demonstrates knowledge of Mubadala's business, basic project management and communications skills. Shows elementary understanding of various communications areas of focus.
- Experience of digital and multimedia not essential but advantageous.
- Strong ability to work in a high-pressurized environment, always adhering to deadlines.
- Possesses outstanding attention to detail and focus on quantifiable deliverables.
- Practices self-discipline by focusing on tasks, being accountable for work products and own time management.
- Strong planning and organizing skills plus ability to project manage small to medium sized projects, within budget.
- Shows a strong sense of teamwork and collaborative attitude.
- Ability and interest in developing knowledge of the business to understand key business priorities and objectives.
- Self-starter with strong time management but proactively willing to ask for help.
- Excellent written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
