Job description / Role
Objectives: The objective of this role is to source an exciting and credible range, along with a balance of commercial sportswear and trend product. Build a broad understanding of the brands' customer profile ensuring that all customer needs are met within the range. A critical factor of the role is it to work effectively with the support functions to maximize department sales and profitability.
Main responsibilities:
• Completion of annual merchandise budgets (sales, stock, discounts and margin) with planners to support achievement of business strategy
• Prepare optimal seasonal assortment plan for the team sport category for each type of store, following merchandise guidelines and instruct local merchandise team accordingly which results in achieving sales, stock turn, and margin goals
• Work with planners to determine optimal assortment mix.
• Liaise with new and existing suppliers and place seasonal orders as well as replenishment orders when required
• Shop market and competition regularly to ensure execution of planned strategy in order to achieve competitive differentiation in market.
• Analyze past sales patterns to anticipate trends in consumer buying pattern
• Closely monitor and respond to new product in the business.
• Constantly review sales performance of product and timeously review stock inputs to ensure availability of supply
• Effectively plan and manage stock to operate within approved levels, minimize risk of problem product and control ageing.
• Regularly review performance indicators, such as sales, margins,sell-thru, stock turn, stock cover and GMROI
• Analyze sales and stock, and take rational decisions to effectively control stock holding and optimize profitability
• Responsible to achieve overall Sales, Gross Margin and Stock Turn
• Proven ability to develop category and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to Management
• Manage and develop the team to deliver optimum performance with good time management, prioritization, negotiation, and organizational skills

Nature and length of previous experience:
• Minimum of 4 years experience in the sports retail industry with a preference managing team sports categories
Language Fluency:
• English fluency is essential for the role
University Qualifications:
• University degree in Business Administration or similar field from a recognized university
