Senior Construction Civil Engineer

We are actively seeking a senior construction civil engineer to join our client based onsite near Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a specialist nuclear organisation.

Job Spec:
* Provide safety, quality and schedule oversight in order to ensure appropriate oversight for all power block and/or marine structures, systems and components (sscs), including but not limited to; site grading, excavation, backfilling, dewatering, soil investigation, rebar installation, concreate placement (mudmats, basemats, bottom/ top slabs and walls), structural steel erection, architectural finishing / coating/ painting and all associated civil and architectural testing for the ssc's.
* Define and recommend suggestions to help making decisions that meet project objectives.
* Recommend corrective actions or methods of repair for any deficiency or non-conformance identified in order to ensure work is carried out in an adequate and correct manner.
* Provide oversight guidance and advice (as required) to the head of construction civil, the prime contractor and subcontractors to support construction methods, materials, and equipment and work sequences.
* Monitor project safety objecti9ves and implement the appropriate corrective actions where necessary in order to ensure that all relevant objectives are fulfilled.
* Take the necessary initiative aiming to establishing, implanting and maintaining the oversight of civil and architectural construction activities to ensure timely project completion.
* Recommend stoppage of the work when the required quality or safety of work operations are in doubt in order to ensure work excellence and ethics regarding safety measures.
* Ensure that work is performed in the safest and professional manner to meet overall project objectives in compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
* Monitor the work progress and its alignment with the quality requirements as specified by design documents including but not limited to drawing and specifications to ensure that project objectives are met in a timely manner.
* Oversee the prime contractor in order to ensure expectations are met in the execution of build - clean, foreign material exclusion, housekeeping and preservation programs in the construction of ssc's.
* Inform and report all important issues that may effect on project progress to the head of construction civil.
* Facilitate communication both internally and externally

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a nuclear power plant construction and engineering industry and/or experience on large capital projects and in similar/related position in the UAE, GCC region or worldwide. Also previous experience worked through the planning, design and construction of Nuclear Power Plants. Desirably the candidate must have a Master's degree in Civil Engineering and trade certificates preferably in industrial safety, chartered or professional engineering and project management.

Technically must have Nuclear Safety awareness and knowledge of nuclear safety design principals. Knowledge of design techniques and tools in their discipline. Also the ability to read technical drawings and virtual plant models and excellent MS office skills. Skilled in using international code and standards in engineering and design of their discipline area is preferred.

Post is based in Abu Dhabi with travel. Please note accommodation, subsistence and travel to and from site is included - mobilisation to and from UAE is also provided as well as a tax free salary.
