KBR is looking for a Senior Construction Manager to be based in Abu Dhabi Site.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, endorse, supervise, coordinate, and manage the overall construction activities of the projects.
  • Review and endorse all projects' construction plans issued by the EPC Contractors.
  • Extensively participate in all risk assessment workshops, constructability reviews, 3D models, transportation and site delivery procedures/plans, as well as endorse construction task risk assessments.
  • Direct and supervise the overall construction activities and provide guidance and expertise to the construction team and EPC Contractors.
  • Act as a communication link between plant divisions and the consultant/contractor to resolve any interface problems.
  • Coordinate with other projects to ensure continuity of works under his control.
  • Ensure that all company codes, regulations, and engineering practices, as well as particular project specifications, are adhered to by consultants, contractors, and their employees.
  • Liaise with civil/marine/instrument/electrical/mechanical sections within divisions and departments.
  • Monitor the construction activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policy, procedures, and standards, permit to work manual, and waste disposal manual.
  • Carry out advanced safety audits (ASA's) on a regular basis to confirm and/or determine the contractors' understanding of their safety awareness and responsibilities.
  • Provide opportunities for training and development of employees under his direction (with emphasis on UAE Nationals) and assess their progress, including on-the-job training, counseling, and proper work delegation.
  • Provide required assistance and guidance to the project commissioning team during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of projects.
  • Liaise with the rectification of any warranty defect items of new facilities with the EPC Contractors and plant divisions.
  • Collect and participate in all construction-related lessons learned from various projects and ensure improvements of construction methods in future projects.
  • Review and endorse engineering and construction contractor's invoices for payment.
  • Control the implementation of operational methods and procedures of project management and coordination.
  • Recommend any required changes/modifications to the methods and procedures controlling the division's/department's operations.
  • Ensure implementation of all lessons learned and project risk areas from previous and ongoing projects are systematically captured within projects and database as part of overall knowledge management initiative.
  • Review and approve requests to develop processes and standard tools to meet the needs of the projects department and other requests for changes to standard processes, procedures, systems, or tools by the project teams.
  • Plan, direct, and manage the overall operation of the construction and brownfield projects in the projects division; and perform managerial functions at the levels established by the company.
  • Direct the overall management and execution of assigned projects, including small, medium, and major projects.
  • Proactively support the project management consultant (PMC) and project management team (PMT), including project managers/senior project engineers and project team with the resources required to execute the work efficiently.
  • Audit the execution performance of the projects to maintain control over the project's schedule and budget.
  • Monitor performance of EPC contractors and make necessary recommendations for corrective action to management and shareholders.
  • Review contractors and consultants' capabilities, carry out prequalification of new contractors/consultants, and issue recommendations for management approval prior to engagements of new contractors/consultants.
  • Lead prequalification of tenderers, deal with queries during the bid phase, participate in bid evaluation, carry out pre-award contract review and negotiations for main engineering and construction contracts together with other concerned parties and submit recommendations accordingly.
  • Manage the pre-award phase including preparation of initial bidders list, technical evaluation criteria, technical evaluation reports, and recommendations for award of various new schemes and projects.
  • Assure the safety of personnel and equipment through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations and maintain the attitude that all accidents are preventable.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in engineering, preferably with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • 25+ years of experience in oil and gas industry-related construction works, of which at least 5 years must be at a senior level in construction of gas processing plants.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent functional knowledge and experience of all aspects of project management.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance international codes and standards.
  • Good leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Good working knowledge of PC and presentation skills.
  • Very good knowledge of written and spoken English.
