Senior Cost Control Engineer

Job description / Role

Our Regional Main Contracting client has a new requirement for a well experienced Senior Cost Control Engineer to join their team in Dubai, UAE. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Senior Cost Control Engineer on mid rise and residential projects in the UAE working for a recognised contractor company. Only candidates experienced in CCS Candy software will be considered.

This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 3 Month Contract position as an outsource employed by J10 Consulting.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Management with SAP Experience

• Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures in order to record project cost accurately, including coordination with GIT department and suppliers
• Monitor and report on project cost status, including budget vs actuals by tracking all revenue, cost and profit of the projects, Assist Commercial Manager and Operations Manager in producing management reports for different requirements whenever arises
• Reconcile the project cost with commercial team and Accounts to Identify cost variances and recommend corrective actions
• Collaborate with project managers to determine project budgets and cost estimates, update project costs allocations
• Manage project cost documentation, including purchase orders, budget transfers, signed budgets, tracking sheets, forecast reports etc.
• Prepare & update over budget requests record
• Establish detailed budget after the Project award and uploading it into SAP and thereafter monitor the budget and costs continuously and making necessary adjustment by coordinating with QSs and Site team
• Advise on weekly labour report being submitted from all projects and discuss with the Project Managers and QSs on errors and issues identified

Commercial Management

• Assist the Commercial team in processing POs by working on detailed budget, material tracking sheets and coordinating with all concerned team including Auditor, correcting errors in SAP etc.
• Assist commercial team in negotiating with the subcontractors and suppliers on final accounts of the past completed projects and concluding it and forwarding the close out to the Accounts
• Advise the operations team on a daily basis on all cost control measures and contractual matters that need to be followed to avoid issues in the operations level. Advise also the QSs from time to time to ensure cost control practices suggested is well understood by both Operations team and QSs and practiced
• Advise Commercial Manager and Accounts on changes or modifications that are necessary in future to the current practice and the system, in order to save time and increase efficiency
• Review the payment certificates of the Subcontractors, performance reports, GRNs, site reports etc. prepared by the QSs, Storekeepers, Project Managers, and advise the Commercial and the Operations Manager on the corrections and improvements required, if any of those are affecting negatively the cost control procedure being followed by the company

Estimation with Candy Experience

• Working on preparing Tender bid, estimation and contributes to the whole tender process in reviewing the budget established, productivity rates used, norms applied etc. until the submission

Procurement

• Attend meeting with the subcontractors and suppliers along with the QSs to support the discussion in terms of budget, cost etc. to ensure that matters discussed are in line with the budget concerned and cost control procedure
• Negotiate with the suppliers and subcontractors for certain trades in the market at the time of Subcontract tender to analyze the price and compliance, with close coordination with the Commercial Manager
• Reviewing the Sub Contractor/Supplier bid evaluation sheetsa

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Structural or related
• Minimum 10 years overall experience. at least 3 and relevant experience in recognised main contracting companies in the UAE
• Proficiency in Cost control including estimation and procurement
• Relevant commercial software experience (SAP, CCS Candy, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of industry standards.
