Senior Design Engineer

A leading Construction Contracting Company is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join them in the UAE. Needing an individual who is an expert in the design development process and capable of delivering the design from concept to completion in a multi-project environment, mostly for infrastructure and Civil projects.

Responsibilities
• Assess and provide both temporary and permanent works concepts and solutions ensuring conformity of designs and layouts in accordance with internationally recognized standards, and ISO Quality standards.
• Identify design requirements for projects, scope these and follow up with temporary works design in support of tenders and projects ensuring practical construction (Constructability) is considered throughout.
• Create and develop temporary work methods & design concepts into geometrically suitable solutions ensuring they are workable, safe, cost & time efficient and backed with supporting calculations, option analysis and risk assessments.
• Review technical specifications at tender stage through traceable PDF recording methods to identify risk items and peculiarities recording them in the Risk Register enabling the tender proposal team to complete the mitigation responses.
• Carry out design calculations on Infrastructure, Mechanical and Civil structures to assess criteria for loading, durability and fit for purpose issues as per specifications to provide design reviews and reports for required design items.
• Interact with Draughtsman to ensure designs are supported by drawings approved for construction.

Requirements

• BSc degree in Civil Engineering, preferably MSc
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience within the construction industry with responsibilities for delivery of design, and exposure to construction, costing, estimating and planning.
• Proven design experience from concept through solutions to technical/construction challenges and issues.
• Developed specialisms with numerous execution phase design projects completed
• Knowledge / application capability in design codes/ standards (Eurocode/ BS/ CIRIA/ DNV, ASTM, ACI etc)
