Senior ELV Design Engineer

Job description / Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior ELV Design Engineer to join the expanding building services team in our Abu Dhabi office.

The successful candidate will be an ELV Engineer with a proven track record in the design of Extra Low Voltage distribution systems.

Key Accountabilities
- Candidates should be practical and demonstrate good management skills and commercial acumen.
- Lead the design process on one or several projects depending on size, type and complexity.
- Apply sound engineering principles in the development of design solutions and the production of contract documentation.
- Provide direct instructions, guidance and oversight of all tasks conducted by engineers assigned to work on the respective projects.
- Develop the skills of junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
- Experience in preparing technical reports, specifications and client presentations are a must.
- Able to grasp complex concepts in limited time and make decisions while being mindful of long term implications, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active.
- A good level of computer literacy with experience in related ELV softwares.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Mainly Excel.
- Working knowledge of document production using Autodesk software. Revit is used extensively by Obermeyer and knowledge of BIM tools is required.
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
- Communication with design teams (internal and external), clients and project managers.
- Ensure effective coordination occurs with other disciplines such as Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical and Structural Engineering.
- Attend all coordination and progress meetings and present options and solutions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HoD and/or project manager.
- Thorough knowledge of local authority requirements and regulations and can obtain project related approvals from the relevant local authorities.

Develop all Extra Low Voltage distribution systems for building services including but not limited to:
- Security Systems
- Access Control System
- Intruder Detection System
- Video Surveillance (CCTV)
- Fire Detection and Alarm System
- Emergency / Exit Lighting System
- Voice Evacuation System
- Intercom System
- Parking Guidance System
- Structured Cabling System (IT data & Wi-Fi Installation)
- IPTV / CATV / MATV System
- Video Conference and Audio Visual Equipment
- Building Management System
- Public Address and Mass Notification System
- Special Systems
- Queue Management System
- Central Clock System Including Time recording
- Nurse Call System
- Paging Systems
- Patient Entertainment System
- Emergency Call System for Disabled Persons
- RFID System
- Perform system calculations and studies for server and IDF sizing and requirements.
- Perform calculations for cable sizes, cable tray fill/loading.
- Design of all assigned project drawings for compliance with all company and project instructions (Single line diagrams, installation details, wiring diagrams, etc.)
- Discuss design detail and strategies with our clients
- Supervise a team of ELV Draftsmen.
- Conduct site visits and assessment, as required to execute design work when required.
- Proven background working for international engineering consultancies.
- General knowledge and ability to review Electrical systems is a benefit.
- Familiar with MEP building services systems.

Requirements

Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related Engineering based subject. Health care experience would be beneficial.

Minimum 10 years of experience working in an engineering design consultancy, developing design calculations and modelling/drawing of Extra Low Voltage distribution systems with GCC experience.

Must be proficient in sustainable design with good knowledge of Estidama, Dubai Green Building, Emirates Green Building Council, LEED (LEED AP qualification would be beneficial) etc.
