About the Job
Participates in geological activities in assigned fields. Accountable for the acquisition and interpretation of accurate geological data and construction of conceptual geological models to ensure accurate numerical reservoir simulation, calculation of recoverable hydrocarbon in place, and optimization of field development and reservoir management programs.
Key Accountabilities (Part 1)
Job Specific Accountabilities
- Carries out complex analysis and interpretation of geological field data using advanced modelling techniques to provide input for the compilation and development of well proposals. Updates high-quality static reservoir models of carbonate reservoirs fully integrated with input from geophysics, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering through milestone processes.
- Provides regional structural geology and restoration in a variety of tectonic episodes at basin, field, and reservoir scales, including but not limited to the integration with reservoir geomechanics, sedimentology, and stratigraphy studies.
- Performs geological studies evaluation, combining petrophysical data, facies and core description, core data, borehole image logs, well correlation, and pressure data leading to the construction of 3D static geological models and ensures the studies integration.
- Designs and plans complex studies to identify new prospects and hydrocarbon systems, develops new play concepts, and qualified models of the subsurface. Studies include but are not limited to stratigraphic, lithofacies identification, diagenesis understanding, porosity and permeability distribution, and hydrocarbon saturation studies to characterize the reservoir.
- Responsible for integrating geological and other well/seismic data and advises on formation depth, geometries of geo-bodies, geometrical relationships, form, and shape of carbonate deposits.
- Supervises and participates in geological reservoir studies aimed at constructing and/or improving geological models including 3D static models and ensures models accuracy.
- Provides discipline-specific technical advice and guidance to meet data gathering issues and required support by other disciplines team members as required.
- Ensures contractors' compliance with contract terms and schedules by monitoring progress and performance through regular activity reports and ensures technical integrity.
- Reviews and prepares study progress reports and ensures adherence to company and professional standards and procedures established for such studies.
- Contributes to well proposals/prognosis for new wells and updates geological models based on well results. Analyzes and recommends solutions on any issues raised during drilling operations by integrating geological information.
- Determines the hydrocarbon volumes in place with associated uncertainty ranges in the reserves and GIIP review whilst ensuring that all static subsurface uncertainties identified by other disciplines are properly represented and integrated.
Key Accountabilities (Part 2)
Generic Accountabilities
Supervision
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
