Senior Internal Auditor

Job description / Role

A new client to Irwin & Dow from within the healthcare sector is growing at a very fast pace and therefore the role of Chief Internal Auditor is a new requirement. This is a senior position that requires candidates with experience from within the Big 4 and exposure to the healthcare sector (this can include when on audit assignments). Reporting up to Board level, the successful candidate will be required to design and implement the complete internal audit process, governance, compliance and control.

This will be implemented across the whole organisation, and it is expected that you will perform gap and critical root cause analysis to identify and develop an overall internal audit strategy plan. You will produce insightful reports concerning the risk to the business and ensure governance processes are highly effective to mitigate all risk and ensure tight financial controls. The strategy will be presented to the Chairman and Executive Board and once approved, the Chief Internal Auditor will then deliver and monitor the action plan with a view to continuous improvement and providing recommendations on an ongoing basis. This position will also be the sole point of contact for all external audit reviews.

Acting on behalf of the Chief Executive, Senior Leadership Team and the Risk and Compliance Seniors you will also undertake exceptionally confidential 3rd party complaint investigations and if appropriate, determine any necessary action to prevent a future recurrence. It is therefore the responsibility of the successful candidate to also implement and oversee all whistleblowing procedures and communicate these in a professional manner. As the business grows and evolves the Chief Internal Auditor will monitor progress, compliance, and due diligence to ensure a robust process with strong governance in place to continually mitigate risk to the organisation.

Requirements

This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced auditor and we expect that the candidate selected will possess relevant financial qualifications such as CIA and CPA. Those with CISA qualifications are particularly desirable, along with the previously mentioned Big 4 and healthcare exposure. Process driven and lateral thinking are required to support the senior team at all times with a robust audit strategy and therefore excellent communication skills are expected. Those with Arabic fluency have a distinct advantage, however the ability to communicate highly effectively at a senior level with a broad range of senior stakeholders and is essential.
