Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job description / Role

Job responsibilities:

Lead and manage the mechanical engineering scope related to rotating equipment for the Iraq project from the Dubai office.

Develop and review engineering deliverables such as equipment specifications, datasheets, requisitions, technical bid evaluations, and vendor documents.

Ensure technical compliance with project requirements, international codes and standards (API, ASME, etc.), and client specifications.

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, instrumentation, civil, procurement) during all stages of engineering.

Provide technical support to procurement and interface with vendors and manufacturers for selection and evaluation of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.).

Review and approve vendor drawings and ensure alignment with project requirements.

Support design integrity and safety through technical reviews such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, 3D model reviews, etc.

Assist in resolving technical issues during the project lifecycle.

Prepare and present engineering progress reports and technical presentations when required.

Key qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering with strong emphasis on rotating equipment in the oil and gas sector.

Proven experience in the engineering phase (FEED, detailed engineering, detailed design) of large onshore oil and gas projects.

Experience working on Iraq-based projects is a plus.

Proficiency in engineering software tools and familiarity with international standards such as API, ASME, ISO, etc.

Strong understanding of project workflows and document deliverables in the EPC environment.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
