Wood is recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer (Stress) to join its UAE Business Unit and our team in Sharjah, UAE, to plan, budget, organize, and control piping engineering deliverables for the project. This is a full-time onsite role in Sharjah, UAE.


The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Piping Engineer (Stress) to join our UAE Business Unit.

Wood has been awarded a general engineering contract to support an international client operator to deliver a portfolio of onshore capital projects by provision of engineering and project management services (including EPC contract management), as well as supply chain, construction, and commissioning support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices.

Projects include both greenfield and brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions to support our client's energy transition and emissions reduction goals.

Key objectives

  • The candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned piping engineering work scopes
  • To plan, budget, organize, and control piping engineering deliverables for the project
  • Prepare piping deliverables and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the client's policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
  • Provide direction and guidance on all piping engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties
  • Liaise with the client's engineering, operations, and maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
  • Promote safe behaviour at all times
  • Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
  • Co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
  • Assist in the coordination of all activities related to piping engineering design
  • Identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required

Expected

  • Degree qualification in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Candidates must have experience in layouts, stress, and materials
  • Brownfield experience is a must
  • Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience of working in the Middle East preferred
