Senior Planning Engineer

Job description / Role

Responsibilities

- Supports the maintenance of planning control structures in alignment with approved project work breakdown structure (WBS).
- Supports the maintenance of baseline project plans and schedules using appropriate scheduling software.
- Assists with monitoring and controlling planning activities through all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Liaises with engineering, procurement, and construction functions, and others as required, including third parties, to maintain awareness of project activities, their status, and their impact on the project schedule and manpower requirements.
- Supports preparation of project plans and schedules in accordance with project reporting requirements.
- Supports preparation of project progress and performance status reports in accordance with project reporting requirements.
- Supports preparation of updates to project plans and schedules.
- Supports preparation of updates to project manpower requirements.
- Monitors overall project progress status, achievement of major milestones, and analyzes project performance in relation to planned performance.
- Liaises with cost discipline to ensure accurate and timely control and forecasting of man-hour budgets.
- Participates in schedule risk analysis as required.
- Participates in project controls compliance and continuous improvement reviews.

Qualifications

- Bachelor of Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with 7-8 years of experience in a similar role.
- Basic understanding of project management principles and techniques.
- Preferred exposure to Primavera and/or MS Project.
