About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our UAE-based client, a reputable player in the hard commodity sector
Responsibilities:
Project Participation:
• Represent the Client in a world-class, grass-roots petrochemical and refining project in the UAE from early engineering design through FEED and EPC.
Scope and Documentation:
• Develop the project scope of work and Basis of Design.
• Provide process inputs and compile ITB packages for the pre-FEED and FEED phases.
• Evaluate bidding proposals and participate in the selection process for engineering contractors.
• Technology and Licensing:
• Assist with the pre-qualification and assessment of technology providers and process licensors.
• Review and evaluate Preliminary Design Packages (PDPs), Basic Design Packages, and related study reports.
• Coordination and Communication:
• Communicate and coordinate with international engineering contractors and technology licensors during the design phases.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, external contractors, and vendors.
Documentation Review:
• Review and provide feedback on process-related documentation such as BFDs/PFDs, process philosophies, design basis documents, specifications, drawings, and layouts.
Process Design and Analysis:
• Provide essential process inputs for the large-scale petrochemical plant design, including process selection, plant configuration, and equipment/material recommendations.
• Conduct process design analysis and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
• Use specialized process simulation software (e.g., Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar) to verify design calculations and simulations for ISBL and OSBL facilities.
Risk Management:
• Contribute to the design of other disciplines and participate in risk assessments, developing measures to minimize process-related issues.
Project Execution:
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure the timely delivery of engineering packages and services. Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards throughout the project execution.
Technical Problem-Solving:
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to process design development.
Team Collaboration and Reporting:
• Act proactively as a member of cross-functional teams, contributing to decision-making processes and ensuring the alignment of technical objectives with project goals.
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of technical reports and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities:
• Embrace the opportunity for international collaboration and be willing to travel as necessary.
• Employ project management techniques to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
Requirements:
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Process or Chemical (Petrochemistry) Engineering.
Experience:
• At least 10 years of experience in downstream process engineering, preferably in large-scale or international petrochemical/refining projects from conceptual design to EPC.
Technical Expertise:
• In-depth knowledge of petrochemical and refining technologies, with hands-on experience in licensor’s PDP and the design of ISBL and OSBL facilities.
• Solid understanding of process design, optimization, and industrial engineering principles.
• Proficient in using process simulation software (e.g., Aspen PIMS, Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar).
Regulatory Knowledge:
• Familiarity with international standards and UAE National regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental compliance, and quality.
Problem-Solving:
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.
Communication and Collaboration:
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while making informed decisions.
• Language Requirement: English, Arabic is a strong plus

• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools is an asset
