Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Competency

  • Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
  • Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
  • Uses local and global standards to support technical excellence.
  • Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
  • Technical supervision of project designated process designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
  • Preparation and checking of specifications, data sheets.
  • Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval.
  • Technical writing activities, in particular, production of technical reports and operating manuals.
  • Manage studies and process-oriented projects as assigned.

Project Execution:

  • Knows the project and discipline scope, cost, and time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
  • Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
  • Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities and takes action where required.
  • Assists Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manages process design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
  • Prepares and participates in weekly process discipline meetings, prepares progress reports and follows required checking procedures.
  • Management, technical execution, and completion of engineering assigned tasks in a specific process discipline area.
  • Executes verification, studies, and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in terms of cost, construction simplicity, operability, maintainability, and HSSE.

Project Deliverables:

  • Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, and calculations.
  • Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros and cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries and technical deviations.
  • Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval.
  • Reviews documentation to assist others and reviews or authorizes work done by direct reports.
  • Evaluates new technology advancements against existing design standards and revises where applicable.
  • Identifies and reviews new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost-effective facilities.
  • Performs discipline-specific engineering services such as:
    • Identify and report changes to project scope;
    • Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses, and recommend actions;
    • Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and reports;
    • Provide assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Assists the project engineers in the coordination and preparation of input into the contract documents for each discipline area, including design criteria, scope of work, procedures, and design approach.
  • Liaises and coordinates with other engineers and discipline groups on the contract to effect timely production of deliverables.

Procurement Support:

  • Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment and material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions.
  • Reviews similar documentation to assist others and reviews or authorizes work done by direct reports.

Quality Assurance

  • Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems.

Safety

  • Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
  • Promoting health, safety, and environmental awareness.

Job Specific Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate a visible and active commitment to HSE management and its associated requirements in a project environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ADNOC VIP and VAP Assurance processes, API Standards (API-520, API-521, API-14C, API-14E) and statutory and regulatory requirements and a good understanding of onshore and offshore engineering practices applicable to process design for offshore oil and gas facilities.
  • Experience in various phases of project life cycle with particular skills in feasibility and conceptual engineering, field development, and adequacy studies.
  • Experience in processing of highly sour production fluids with extensive offshore engineering experience. Site experience is an advantage and willingness to travel to site and work in an operation support environment is essential.
  • Experience of option selection studies, debottlenecking and revamp projects and licensor packages - excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of process simulation packages such as HYSYS, PROII, Flarenet, HTRI. Experience with dynamic simulation packages will be an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in pipeline modeling using OLGA, Pipesim, Pipeline Studio, Pipephase, Pipenet is an advantage.

Essential Competencies:

Industry Specific Experience:

  • Experience in process design in onshore and offshore oil and gas industry for Greenfield and Brownfield projects. Experience in ammonia and hydrogen plants and refinery processes would be an advantage.
  • Experience of field development, option selection studies, debottlenecking, and revamp projects would be an advantage.
  • Extensive process simulation for plant and pipelines is essential.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.

  • Aspen suite, Hysys, Pipesys, FlareNet, Dynamic Simulation Software.
  • PRO-II Flow Assurance.
  • PipeNet.
  • Pipesim and SPS.
  • PVTSim and OLGA.
  • PipePhase.
  • TLNET.
  • Fathom.
