Overview of the role
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for delivering a single large-scale construction project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Reporting to the Project Director, the Senior Project Manager provides leadership for all project phases, from initiation through to handover, and is accountable for achieving key performance objectives. The role requires close coordination with stakeholders, alignment with organizational goals, and adherence to the Project Director's overarching objectives.
What you will do
Project Execution:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale projects, aligning with objectives and client expectations.
- Ensure projects meet schedule, budget, scope, and quality standards.
- Develop and implement tailored delivery strategies and programme management processes.
Team Leadership:
- Oversee multidisciplinary teams, fostering high performance and accountability.
- Promote collaboration and continuous improvement in team operations.
Client and Stakeholder Management:
- Act as the primary client contact, managing expectations and ensuring alignment.
- Liaise between clients, contractors, and internal teams for clear communication and issue resolution.
Financial Oversight:
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial controls to achieve profitability.
- Administer contracts and mitigate financial risks.
Schedule and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to schedules, prioritize on-time delivery, and track progress.
- Implement risk management processes to address potential impacts on timelines, quality, or costs.
Compliance and Improvement:
- Maintain safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Drive continuous process improvements for efficiency and cost savings.
Required Skills to be successful
- 10+ years of experience managing large-scale construction projects, with a demonstrated ability to meet strict timelines and budgets.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery, with specific experience in managing multidisciplinary teams within a construction setting.
- Experience in managing stakeholder relationships and adhering to regulatory and environmental standards.
- Skilled in managing project budgets and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.
What equips you for the role
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are preferred.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, safety standards, and quality assurance practices specific to large-scale construction projects.
