Employment: Full Time

Our client is a multinational Project Management and Engineering firm which operates in the railway sector, currently involved with the management of the Design and Construction of the extension of Dubai Metro project for the iconic EXPO 2020.

They are looking for a RAMS Engineer to undertake the RAMS role for the Engineer/Consultant side covering both at overall system and subsystem level.

The ideal candidate shall have covered the System RAM and Safety Manager position in similar projects and have a significant familiarity and technical knowledge on issues related to Rail and CW systems and their integration, quality processes and a strong results orientation, motivation for the assigned role.

Key responsibilities include

Management:
• Liaise with Contractors on RAMS issues, and interface with clients on both a technical and contractual matters.
• Interface with domain experts from other disciplines.
• Oversee and review the work of Contractors.
• Assist Stakeholders, the Client and Project Management in understanding the Safety and RAM Engineering effort so that they can better understand and forecast the scope of their projected activities;
• Obtain/record formal agreement of the Client to proceed with the stated RAMS submission.
• Receipt, record, register/acknowledge receipt and rue RAMS technical submissions by the Contractor.
• Create the documentation required to verify that the Contractor’s RAMS documentation is meeting the customer requirements and adhering to the processes established for the project;
• Conduct, chair, minute and follow up on the actions arising from formal RAMS review meetings,
• Ensure the Contractor receives the necessary timely responses to his submissions in line with the overall Master Project Schedule.
• Issue all such RAMS documentation, in summary form, to the Client for confirmation of no objection.
• Request for further documentation, clarification, etc. by means of a formal Request for Information (RH) procedure or by requesting document resubmission

Technical:
• Provide expertise and advice to the Client on RAMS engineering.
• Systematically review, assess and either approve or comment on the RAMS Contractors submissions, ensuring that fully cover and comply with the Specifications and Design Brief requirements laid down in the Contract.
• Assess RAMS documentation developed by the Contractors, including but not limited to Hazard Logs, ALARP determination, Control Measure apportionment and traceability, assessing design safety features;
• Prepare for and participate in Hazard Analysis workshops, Project Design Reviews, Safety Design Reviews and required Gate Reviews;
• Conduct workshop reviews, together with Final Client, the Contractor and any Project Stakeholders and interface parties.
• Assist the Client in assessing the need for redundancy and evaluating accessibility for maintenance;
• Prepare and issue recommendation reports in response to possible design alternatives.
• Determine whether the system provides adequate testability features;
• Attend FRACAS meetings and participate in the review of root cause analysis findings.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience with both RAM and Safety management processes in similar projects.
• Senior Experience in Metro or Railway projects
• Extensive knowledge about processes and requirements in EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 & EN 61508.
• Experience with relevant RAM analytical techniques including, but not limited to, fault tree analyses (FTA), reliability block diagram (RBD), failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA/FMECA), Common Cause Failure (CCF), Human factors, Reliability Critical Items, RAM analysis and prediction, RAM allocation, Life Cycle Cost, DRACAS/FRACAS, statistical tests, accelerated testing, RAM demonstration.
• Experience with relevant Safety analytical techniques including, but not limited to, HAZID, HAZOP, qualitative and quantified risk assesmemnt, SIL allocation, and demonstration, hazard management, SW safety, Safety Critical Items, safety requirements management, Safety V&V process and safety cases.
• Knowledge about RAMS and software aspects relevant for the systems to be designed by the Contractor and its subcontractors; both Rail System, such as Rolling Stock, Signalling, Operating Control System, Communications, Power Distribution System, Track, PSDs, MEP and CW structures)
• Experience with methods for inspections and auditing of suppliers
• Knowledge about RAMS aspects relevant for the systems to be designed by the Contractor and its subcontractors.
• Team Leader and people management skills
• Good communication and organizational skills
