Job description / Role
Job Purpose
A long-term outlook for crude oil, gas, LNG, oil products and petrochemicals to 2050
Short-term analysis of the global economy and oil and gas markets
Macroeconomic analysis of the UAE and Abu Dhabi economies
Key assumptions to be used in project evaluation, including assessments of country risk, and supply, demand and price forecasts for specific products
In addition, lead ad-hoc projects to address strategic issues raised by senior management.
Job Specific Accountabilities
Corporate Strategy:
- Develop and implement research methods to ensure robust analysis of the macro-economy and energy markets
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the Economics vision and long-term strategy of ADNOC.
- Contribute to the overall process of corporate governance, management and corporate decision making to ensure the organization maximizes returns to its shareholders.
- Provide input to corporate investment guidelines.
Macroeconomics and macro-energy:
- Design and lead research projects utilising primary and secondary data sources in support of ADNOC's strategic goals.
- Track key macroeconomic and industry trends, advise on international trade and other macroeconomic issues, as well as developments in the oil and gas sector.
- Maintain relationships with international bodies from which insights may be gained, and enhance relationships with relevant national bodies.
- Support Specialists in Economics to develop and maintain data systems to collect and store macroeconomic and macro-energy data.
- Under the guidance of the VP, Economics, lead the development of a global energy outlook to 2050
- Provide in-depth analysis of the UAE economy, with a focus on sustainable economic development.
- Provide sectoral analysis of key economies - both short and long-term, to help inform the long-term energy outlook.
- Under the guidance of the VP, Economics, lead the development of long-term scenarios to be used in strategy and corporate business planning.
- Lead on 'rapid response' analysis of short-term oil and gas market developments.
- Lead the development of key assumptions to be used in project evaluation, including assessments of country risk, and supply, demand and price forecasts for upstream and downstream products.
- Collaborate with other research groups across ADNOC to ensure consistency and robustness of ADNOC's market analysis.
Research and Development:
- Perform research work in economics, ranging from theoretical methodical issues to applied economics and finance covering the oil and gas industry and ADNOC Group, in particular.
Any Other Key Accountabilities:
- Train Specialists within the Economics team on economics and energy analysis.
- Perform any other key initiatives / projects activities specifically related to the mandate of the ADNOC Group CEO, the Government of Abu Dhabi and the UAE Government.
- Work with Group Communications to develop messages for CEO's presentations and speeches.

Supervision:
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.
Budgets:
- Provide input for preparation of the Function / Division / Department / Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver business objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
- Implement approved Function/ Division/ Department/ Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.
Performance Management:
- Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function/ Division / Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability:
- Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.
Reports:
- Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
Internal Communications & Working Relationships:
- Specialists, Economics
- Vice President, Economics Department
- SVP, Group Strategy & Performance Function
- Any other Directorates/ Functions as required
External Communications & Working Relationships:
- Counterparts & members of the ADNOC Group, Shareholders, as required.
- Local and international vendors, contractors and third-party service providers.
- Government organisations and entities.
- Intergovernmental organizations, and international bodies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering disciplines.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
- 10 years' experience in market research and analysis and economic analysis, including 3 years in economic advisory role.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is required.
- Track record of presentations related to oil and gas / energy markets.
Professional Certifications:
- Master's degree is preferred.
