Senior Transport Planner

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Transport Planner to join our dynamic team in Dubai, UAE. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative transport planning solutions that address the challenges of urban mobility and sustainability. You will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and community groups, to ensure the successful delivery of transport projects that enhance the quality of life in our cities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for creating efficient transport systems.

Responsibilities:
• Lead the development of transport planning projects from conception through to implementation, ensuring alignment with local and regional policies.
• Conduct comprehensive transport studies, including traffic forecasting, demand modeling, and impact assessments to inform planning decisions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, urban planners, and environmental specialists, to design integrated transport solutions.
• Engage with stakeholders, including government officials, community representatives, and private sector partners, to gather input and foster collaboration on transport initiatives.
• Prepare and present detailed reports, proposals, and presentations to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
• Stay informed about the latest trends and advancements in transport planning and technology and apply this knowledge to improve project outcomes.
• Mentor and guide junior planners and interns, providing support in their professional development and project contributions.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards and contribute to the establishment of best practices in transport planning.
• Manage project budgets and timelines effectively, ensuring that deliverables are met on time and within scope.
• Participate in public consultation events and workshops to communicate transport plans and gather community feedback.

• Bachelor's degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in transport planning or a related field, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of transport modelling software (such as SATURN, VISSIM, or similar) and GIS applications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and project management, with strong organizational skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant transport planning tools.
• Knowledge of local transport policies, regulations, and infrastructure in the UAE and the Gulf region is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• A proactive attitude and a passion for sustainable transport solutions.
