Senior Vice President - Financial Governance & Reporting - Group Finance

About Group Finance

Finance supports the Mubadala group by creating and maintaining centers of functional excellence and high quality output in the field of Business planning, statutory reporting, internal financial reporting standards, financial controllership, business valuations, financial governance and more.

We provide high quality financial resource to support the Platform Finance teams in partnering with their Platforms/Units and Assets. We drive a culture across the group wide Finance function(s) of continuous improvement and striving towards the highest possible standards

The Challenge

To lead the development of group-wide financial reporting in order to ensure timeliness, transparency, integrity and accuracy of the Group's financial information and statements, in line with adopted international standards, and ensure platform-level compliance with established frameworks.

To play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless delivery to Platform CFO's of entire reporting spectrum encompassing financial reporting, management reporting, valuation and business planning through the Business Reporting team for the two platforms reporting to this role.

To oversee treasury operations and the back-office treasury function in order to ensure effective cash management mechanisms are implemented, monitor and minimize treasury risk, and ensure timely and efficient processing and settlement of transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Performance Management

- Contribute to the development and execution of the Group Finance strategic plan to ensure alignment with the strategic priorities and the corporate strategy.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the FG&R strategic plan to ensure alignment with the strategic priorities and the corporate strategy.
- Support in the monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators related to the function in order to track performance and recommend corrective action.

People Management

- Manage the activities of direct reports to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner, in line with the annual business plans, and policies and procedures.
- Manage the effective achievement of the Financial & External reporting function by setting individual targets, recruiting and developing staff, and conducting and reviewing performance appraisals for direct reports in order to maximise performance.
- Ensure actively dialogue with seniors in Platform Finance teams to set targets and subsequent performance appraisals of Business Reporting teams reporting into this function
- Actively engage with Business Reporting teams and Platform CFO's as part of the matrix organisation to ensure seamless delivery of various deliverables to Platform finance teams.
- Manage the training and development of team members to ensure continuous progression, and a high-level of competence within the team.
- Play a key role in designing and implementing a framework that helps junior and mid management Group Finance staff to become more rounded in their finance skills.

Financial Reporting

- Lead the design of group-wide statutory reporting framework to ensure effective, timely, transparent and consistent reporting of all financial information.
- Lead the development of a robust group-level financial controllership policy framework to ensure effective controls are implemented across the Group to driver accurate financial transactions in line with adopted international standards.
- Lead the development and consolidation of periodical financial reports, cash flow statements, and other statutory reports for Mubadala Group in compliance with the defined policies and procedures, and adopted financial standards in order to keep management informed about the financial health of the Group.
- Drive auditor appointment process across the Mubadala Investment Company Group and ensure statutory rules in relation to auditor appointment are complied with and service delivery of auditors across the Group is at the highest level

Relationship Management

- Manage and maintain strategic relationships with key external stakeholders such as the Department of Finance, General Secretariat of the Executive Council, etc., and internal stakeholders such as Platform Finance teams, FPBP teams and Corporate Finance and Treasury to facilitate the execution of finance operations.
- Partner with Platform Finance teams to identify, investigate and resolve reporting issues in order to assure the accuracy and integrity of group-wide statutory reports.
- Provide expert technical advice and support on statutory reporting requirements to Platform Finance and investee companies to ensure robust consolidation and compliant accounting treatment.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

- Recommend improvements to functional procedures, and ensure implementation of policies, procedures, systems and controls covering the assigned areas of responsibility so that all activities meet Mubadala's standards, compliance, and regulatory requirements, align to business requirements, and increase operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account 'international leading practice', in order to improve business processes, and increase operational effectiveness.

Management Reporting, Planning and Valuation

- Ensure financial reporting process are robust which provide comfort over financial information submitted by underlying portfolio investees ensuring timely and high quality data is provided to FPBP function for management reporting
- Ensure delivery through Business reporting teams to central FPBP function as well as Platform CFO's of key deliverables in relation to planning, valuation and budgeting for the two platforms this role is responsible

Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor degree in finance, accounting or equivalent.
- Preferably, a relevant Master degree from a top-tier internationally recognised university.
- A relevant professional certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, ACCA is required.

Experience:

- Minimum of 12 years of experience in progressively more complex and senior-level roles in financial reporting and controllership. Preferably, experience in a leading financial institution or a large, complex organisation.
- At least 6 years of experience in a management position in a large organisation.
- Additional relevant experience is an advantage.

Knowledge:

- In-depth knowledge of accounting and financial management.
- In-depth knowledge of financial control.
- Strong knowledge of the applicable financial standards such as IFRS international financial reporting standards.
- Broad understand and knowledge of treasury, with in-depth and practical knowledge of back office and middle office treasury management for complex, multi-sectorial operations.
- Strong knowledge of Mubadala Investment Company Group's operations and business across sectors.
- Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial thinking.
- Good knowledge of risk management.
