Shipping Officer

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shipping Agent to join our dynamic team in Dubai, UAE. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the shipping processes for our organization, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role requires excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of shipping regulations, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. As a Shipping Agent, you will play a crucial role in managing the movement of goods and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of shipping operations, including documentation, customs clearance, and transportation arrangements.
- Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customers to ensure timely and accurate shipment of goods.
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs declarations.
- Monitor shipment status and provide updates to internal teams and clients as required.
- Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations and standards.
- Negotiate shipping rates and terms with carriers and service providers to optimize costs.
- Resolve any issues related to shipping, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies, in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, including tracking information and inventory levels.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting shipping and logistics.

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Agent or in a similar role within the logistics and shipping industry.
- Strong knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficient in using shipping software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically under pressure.
- Experience in handling navy vessels is a plus.
