Job Description
Should have power transmission and distribution industry exposure.
Experience in HV GIS substation construction projects at 400 kV / 132 kV voltage levels.
Shall have at least 10 years experience after graduation, out of which at least 5 years experience in similar GIS substation projects.
Experience in UAE / GCC will have added advantages.
Shall have adequate knowledge of international standards and HSE.
Shall have adequate knowledge of information systems.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English with good technical skills applied to producing reports and literate in use of MS Office applications.
Must have experience of working within an ISO quality environment.
Good knowledge of applicable design standards and codes is essential.
Supervise the civil construction works of 132 kV and 33 kV substation projects during execution stage in line with the approved drawings and materials.
Prepare daily site reports to ensure close monitoring of contractors' civil progress activities.
Attend progress meetings with contractors and consultants when required to support his superior/team leader.
Follow and adhere to the OH&S management system manual as per authority safety standards.
Must be able to demonstrate initiative and flexibility both as an individual and as a strong team player, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.
Scrutinize and approve method statements for each activity and assure that the work will proceed as per method statement only.
Coordinate with main and subcontractors to ensure that civil construction is in accord with contractual terms and conditions with necessary quality parameters in site activity.
Provide approvals to method statements, work procedures, and RFIs.
Evaluate the subcontractors, test agencies, and suppliers by carrying out the work through physical verification, facilities, and documentary evidence showing their product approvals.
Certify main contractor billing.
Conduct technical and monthly progress review meetings with main contractor.
Witness the trial mix design and compaction tests.
Witness all material tests involved in concrete, namely aggregate, sand, cement, reinforcement steel, including other associated additives and compounds, and provide necessary approvals at site.
Responsible for quality control of all materials involved and construction activity and leverage the progress of work by careful monitoring the work progress and highlighting bottleneck delays with clients with safety implementations of work.
Experience in different types of foundations and dewatering.
Management of the site activities interfacing with other disciplines.
Working knowledge of MS Office, report writing, and presentation skills.
Qualifications
B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
