Employment: Full Time

Job Purpose:

To support the delivery of high quality Ultrasound Services to patients in a professional and caring method and ensure that the privacy, comfort and safety of the patients is maintained at all times. In addition, to provide ultrasound services in a safe, efficient, effective and timely manner. This includes accurate documentation in the patients’ medical record or within Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS).

Job Responsibilities:

- Provide timely, efficient and courteous provision of ultrasound services to the agreed standards of the department under the supervision of the radiologist and taking account of the patient/clients clinical, physical and cultural needs.
- Actively achieve compliance with the radiology KPIs: outpatient waiting time and Radiology TAT.
- Discuss with radiologist on duty the priority of the coming requests cards in order to arrange the US workflow.
-Responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations to the Radiologist on duty.
- Use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Use independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Monitor and adjust work priorities in conjunction with senior colleagues to take into account changing demands on the diagnostic services due to emergencies or increased demand.
- Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of imaging equipment, reporting faults to senior staff or directly to the manufacturer.
- Ensure all incidents are reported in line with polices and guidelines
- Participate in clinical audit to improve quality of service.
- Perform ultrasound procedures as required in accordance with hospital and FANR standards
- Identify the range, sequence and method of examination required (taking into account the individual’s needs, any precautions required, the urgency with which the examination is needed and the resources available).
- Involve patients in shared decision making and obtains their consent.
- Prepare for, carries out and monitors examinations effectively.
- Monitor individuals during examinations and takes appropriate actions in relation to any significant changes or possible risks, escalating if any clinical issue arises.
- Evaluate image quality and takes appropriate action when there are issues.
Ensure that the department ultrasound imaging protocols are correctly followed.

Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor in Radiography plus a program certificate in Sonography not less than one year
- Or Bachelor in Sonography accredited program
- Minimum of 5 years experience as sonographer
