The role

As Sous Chef - Pastry, you will lead the pastry section, ensuring the creation of exceptional desserts and baked goods that delight our guests and colleagues. Your expertise will bring creativity and precision to every dish, reflecting Hyatt's commitment to quality and care.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily pastry kitchen operations.
  • Design and execute menus featuring innovative and classic pastry creations.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and sustainability standards.
  • Train and mentor pastry team members to maintain excellence and efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory, control food costs, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation, taste, and consistency.
  • Support initiatives that promote health, wellness, and sustainability in pastry offerings.

Qualifications

Who you are:

  • Proven experience as Sous Chef or Chef de Partie specializing in pastry.
  • Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, chocolate work, and dessert presentation.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain consistency.

About the Company

Hyatt was founded by Jay Pritzker in 1957 when he purchased the Hyatt House motel adjacent to the Los Angeles International Airport. Over the following decade, Jay Pritzker and his brother, Donald Pritzker, working together with other Pritzker family business interests, grew the company into a North American management and hotel ownership company, which became a public company in 1962. In 1968, Hyatt International was formed and subsequently became a separate public company. Hyatt Corporation and Hyatt International Corporation were taken private by the Pritzker family business interests in 1979 and 1982, respectively.
