Job description / Role
JOB PURPOSE:
Provide technical and specialist advice and support to subordinate Jacking System Engineers, Forman and Technicians on rigs' jacking system maintenance, refurbishment and repair problems and assist the immediate supervisor in jacking system and Letourneau gearboxes # 3 & # 4 requirement and material movement between warehouses, workshops and rigs. Plan and supervise execution of jacking system & Letourneau gearboxes refurbishment and repairs on offshore rigs. Directly involves in removal & installation of the jacking components.
Survey, audit, troubleshoot and repairs for all issues related to jacking system and similar equipment.
Responsible for inspection and overhauling of Letourneau gearboxes for Offshore Cranes, Skidding System, Anchor Winch and Raw Water Tower.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Job Specific Accountabilities
- Provides technical direction and expert advice to jacking system crew and rig maintenance personnel to ensure observance of proper standards of work. Assigned to carry out jacking system refurbishment and repairs, inspection and audit of jacking system components for all offshore rigs. To conduct ongoing refurbishment and repair work. Prepares and submits visit reports to the immediate supervisor.
- Furnishes technical advices to immediate supervisors, Senior Jacking System Engineer, Maintenance Support Team Leader, Maintenance Manager on all jacking system maintenance and Letourneau gearboxes # 3 & # 4 repairs and refurbishment activities.
- Receives and reviews reports from subordinates in which the Preventive Maintenance System has not been adhered to and discusses such instances with the responsible body on the rig. Arranges with the rig management to access the machine at the earliest possible, convenient time if it is considered that the maintenance can be deferred. If maintenance is critical then discusses with supervisor, recommending that the maintenance should be undertaken at the earliest possible opportunity.
- Carries out feasibility studies for refurbishment projects to evaluate and determine requirements. Includes reviewing study details with operations personnel and outside consultants. Participates in study teams to investigate jacking system components failure. Establishes forward looking maintenance plans together with costs and materials that will be required to undertake the work having regard for known equipment to be replaced or refurbished.
- Accountable for all maintenance and refurbishment activities of offshore rigs jacking system and overhauling Letourneau gearboxes # 3 & # 4 including budgeting, planning and execution of known maintenance commitments. Assists the immediate supervisor and operational personnel in the preparation of technical specifications. Establishes all tasks to be undertaken at major jacking system repair and ensures the availability of materials and parts necessary, manpower, fabrication and welding staff. Responsible for ordering and ensuring jacking system material stocked for all jacking system offshore rigs.
- Accountable for jacking system components and Letourneau gearboxes # 3 ,& # 4 inspection, overhauling and audit, highlighting to non completion of routine jacking system maintenance and liaises with DTMs and Rig Managers to schedule and to assist rig personnel on PMS implementation.
- Visits company's workshops and occasionally outside workshops to ensure the quality and efficiency of repairs and maintenance and gives technical support as required. Visits such workshops to assess their capabilities prior to use by ADNOC Drilling. Assesses the facilities available, manpower in the sense of number and skill level and any other factor that may be relevant to the work to be undertaken.
- Visits warehouses as required to review the availability of essential items, makes recommendation to increase or decrease stock levels as appropriate. Responsible for ensuring availability of spares and stocking levels.
- Responsible for the implementation of the computerization of the maintenance system. Ensures that all documentation relating to the jacking system activity (e.g. work orders, time sheets, workshop and spare parts requests and service orders) is completed and recorded correctly. Recommends improvements in the system as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned, such as making recommendations to improve maintenance and repair services, determining items that should be scrapped, and reporting such items to immediate supervisors.
- Investigates breakdowns in conjunction with rig barge engineer, rig mechanic to confirm reason for failure and determine the need to remove the equipment to workshop. Assesses the level of skill necessary to perform repairs and assigns work to subordinates or, alternatively, directs and participates personally in repairs. Determines spares/materials necessary and obtains from stores by completing necessary documentation. Checks items of equipment overhauled by subordinates to ensure that work has been satisfactorily been performed and recorded.
- Responsible for inspection and overhauling of Letourneau gearboxes for Offshore Cranes, Skidding System, Anchor Winch and Raw Water Tower.
- Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.

- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

- Provide input for preparation of the Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

- Implement approved Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section's work programs in line with Company and International standards.
- Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.

- Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
- Support the institution of an HSE culture and ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines across the Division in line with international standards, best practices and Corporate Code of Practices and to ensure integrity and safety of assets.
Reports
- Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal
- Has regular contact with Manager, Maintenance Support, Senior Jacking Engineer, Jacking system crew and rig maintenance personnel to advice on refurbishment plan, audit visit, maintenance issues and spares requirements, and with other unit maintenance and operation heads section in Abu Dhabi and other locations to coordinate activities.
- Has regular contact with Procurement Division at Team Leader level to coordinate requirements for materials and spares procurement and with ADNOC Drilling warehouse for jacking system material and spares inspection and acceptance, stock availability and issuing and sending material from warehouse to the offshore rigs.
External
- Has occasional contact with vendors and sub-contractors to inspect their work and ensure compliance with approved scope of work.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualification
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- 10 years' broad jacking system equipment overhaul, jacking system components removing and installation, trouble shooting, repair and maintenance experience in his particular discipline, in which 3 years at supervisory level and further 3 years at specialist/advisory level.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Must be computer literate.
