JOB PURPOSE:

Airport Specialist-AFIS is a key member of DAS I Zirku Aviation teams provides comprehensive flight information service within Zirku/ Das Airports and associated air traffic zone to deliver a high level of safety management in accordance with current GCAA legislation and aerodrome policies to ensure flight operations are conducted in an effective, safe and efficient manner. The role will also include operating as an Airport Operations Officer, when the Airport Ops, staff require to be assessed as AFISO, when arriving for aircraft operations outside of the normal hours and at other times.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES :

Job Specific Accountabilities

Provide Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) and Alerting service.

Identify and contribute to areas of best practice. Cross study review of quality, productivity and efficiency

Ensure that the aerodrome continuously meets the GCAA mandated firefighting category (during operation

Hours) in terms of vehicles, personnel, extinguishing media and reserves, Advice pilots on preferred runway for safe operations, available stands, guidance and weather conditions updates.

Analyze Meteorological conditions and maintain continuous awareness of any changes in forecasts to communicate inoperable condition to relevant authorities.

Relay clearances from ATC facilities to flight operators departing to controlled aerodromes and controlled Air spaces. Inform pilots on traffic in the airport vicinity and help civilian and other aircraft cross safely airport airspace.

Coordinate with Zakum Oilfield, Umm Shaif and nearby offshore airports and facilities.

Provide FIS to Qarnain Island, SARB oil field and temporary Oil platforms within Air Traffic Zone.

Provide aerodrome information amendments (AP and NOTAM) to UAE Aeronautical Information Services (AIS)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Coordinate with UAE Civil Aviation Sector agencies such as Area Control Centre, Search and Rescue, Aeronautical Information Service and Meteorological agencies, etc.

Maintain listening watch on designated aerodrome frequency (during operation hours) to provide Alerting service to air traffic in contact. Activate Aerodrome Emergency Plan or act as Alerting Unit to initiate Overdue or Rescue and Fire- fighting by notifying Rescue Control Center (RCC) via UAE ACC.

Handle unexpected events, emergencies and unscheduled traffic.

Coordinate the ground movement of aircraft and vehicles

Maintain valid and current AFISO certificate in accordance with GCAA regulations.. Ensure compliance with Das/Zirku Airport Safety Management System (SMS)/Aerodrome Manual.

Provide all data required by GCAA Inspectors in case of investigation, in conjunction with DAS and Zirku Airports team leader.

Keep accurate log records for all activities related to AFIS such as equipment serviceability, air movements and handovers/takeovers as per GCAA for audit, airport license renewals and investigation.

Participate in the bird control policy for the aerodrome, airport safety, security committees, risk assessments, task forces, studies and investigations related to all aviation matters.

Liaise with and assist the aerodrome RFFS, aircraft handlers and refueling

Liaise with relevant airport officers for matters affecting aerodrome at special events

Available on call-duty (outside duty hours) or provision of services extended beyond normal operating hours for special civil or military flights, emergency, medical and causality evacuation.

In accordance with UAE rules and ADNOC code of conduct, maintain enhanced security awareness towards Data, Information, Personnel and infrastructure.

Work in line with HSE policy, and ensure awareness and compliance of HSE rules and regulations.

Ensure compliance with CAR Part Vlll Subpart 9 requirements, which also includes all above.

Supervise and guide the Airport operations officers' safety.

Give advice and consultants to the management regarding the aviation matter.

Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.

Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives

Budgets

Provide input for preparation of the Section / Department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.

Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Implement approved Section / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Section's / Department work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Section / Department in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.

Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports

Provide inputs to prepare Section MIS and progress reports for Company Management.

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :

Internal

VP, Managers and TL are of Logistics, Procurement, Drilling & HSE Managers and other relevant representatives from the company Business Units.

ADNOC Group and other Companies looking at the supply chain and its opportunities to create link

External

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor Degree in Aviation management or equivalent and hold current/expired (within 03 years) ATC/FISO license.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

8 - 9 years of experience, including at least experience in Airport/ Aviation and Marine transportation operations activities with good knowledge in GCAA regulations, AFIS certification and manual, Meteorology, Navigation and standard ICAO phraseology.

Proficient in English language.

Good knowledge of MS-Office.
