Job description / Role
The Specification Engineer for Construction Chemicals is responsible for developing and adapting product specifications to meet customer requirements, providing technical support in proposals and tenders, and interfacing with key functions such as Sales and New Product Development (NPD). This role demands a deep understanding of construction chemical products, their applications, and the ability to modify these products based on customer feedback.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise:
- Provide deep technical knowledge of construction chemical products, including their properties, applications, and industry standards.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in construction chemicals and their applications.
Customer Engagement:
- Engage with customers to understand their specific requirements and challenges.
- Provide technical consultations to clients, ensuring that product specifications meet their needs
Product Specification & Adaptation:
- Develop and modify product specifications based on customer requirements and industry standards.
- Work closely with the NPD team to customize products and formulations as needed.
Proposal and Tender Support:
- Assist the sales team in preparing technical sections of proposals and tenders.
- Ensure that all technical documents, including specifications and datasheets, are accurate and up-to-date.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Sales and NPD teams to ensure customer needs are met through product development and modifications.
- Interface with manufacturing teams to ensure that product modifications are feasible and can be implemented at scale.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all modified products meet regulatory and quality standards.
- Conduct tests and evaluations to validate the performance of modified products.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of product specifications, modifications, and customer interactions.
- Provide regular reports to management on product development status and customer feedback.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Materials Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in construction chemicals, with a strong focus on product specification and customer interaction.
