Structural Design Engineer

Job description / Role

Our Tier 1 Main Contracting Client has a new requirement for a well experienced Structural Design Engineer to join their team in Dubai to work on high profile new build projects. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Structural Design Engineer with good knowledge in existing structures renovation, modification to existing building slab and strengthening steel support on high profile projects in the UAE with preference given to those with prior experience working for recognised Main Contracting Companies

This role is available for immediate joining and is an initial 6 Month Contract position employed as an outsource candidate through J10 Consulting. There is an option at 6 months to transfer to staff if it suits all parties.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and oversee the structural design of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other professionals to determine project requirements and specifications.
- Conduct structural analysis and calculations to ensure the integrity and stability of designs.
- Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for construction.
- Review and approve sub-contractor and supplier submittals, including shop drawings and material samples.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams during construction.
- Perform site visits and inspections to assess construction progress and quality.
- Identify and resolve design issues and conflicts in a timely manner.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in structural design.
- Mentor and train junior engineers to develop their technical skills and knowledge.

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil, Structural or related
- Minimum 5 years overall experience in structural design engineering, ideally with a main contractor company.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g., ACI, AISC, ASCE).
- Experience in using structural design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Physical ability to conduct site visits and inspections.
