STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (DESIGNER)

* G+4 Licence
* Member of the Society of Engineers

This role will report directly to the Design Manager with a key role of designing structures to withstand stresses and pressures imposed through environmental conditions and human use. They ensure buildings and other structures do not deflect, rotate, vibrate excessively or collapse and that they remain stable and secure throughout their use.

The role will based in Dubai and covering all of the UAE

Key Accountabilities:
- Production of permanent works designs, calculations, sketches and documents;
- Checking of permanent works designs undertaken by third parties for inter-serve;
- Assisting with the development of Graduate Engineers;
- Liaison with clients/site staff/subcontractors and suppliers to deliver schemes to time and budget
- Able to keep abreast of new techniques, design codes, best practice and safety issues relating to Permanent works
- Undertake Temporary Works Design as and when required;
- Provide structural assistance to multi-discipline teams eg. Architectural, Planning and M&E;
- Supervising CAD draughts-persons;
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgement evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria
- Devises new approaches to problems encountered, received technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects
- Assigned specific projects to complete, working as a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or functional area of the assignment
- Independently performs the assignment with instructions as to the general results expected
- Responsible for following the projects responsibilities as defined for the assigned project positions
- Supervise as required the engineers and technicians on assigned work
- As a registered professional engineer, seals and signs all documentation produced by own work (this may include 'seal & sign' work done by engineers under your direct supervision
- Provide support to sites where design issues have arisen
- You may also be asked to perform studies, preparation of specification, evaluation of proposals and development of estimates which may include the purchase of Civil / Structural systems components

Requirements

- Bachelors in Civil / Structural Engineering
- G+4 Licence
- Member of the Society of Engineers
- Good Microsoft Office knowledge & experience
- Occasional periods of field / office works entailing travel
- Can work within tight deadlines, under pressure and able to prioritise
- You may be required to work in an office, as well as industrial plant environment
