Structural Packaging Designer

Job description / Role

Our client is one of the oldest and largest private business holdings in the UAE. They consist of more than 25 autonomous companies in various sectors of the economy including for trading, manufacturing and services.

They are looking to hire a Structural Packaging Designer who will create custom and innovative packaging design concepts for a variety of clients and industries ranging from food products and FMCG to pharmaceuticals.

Working 5 days a week you will work within a Design Team of 7, and lead the structural design concepts for a high-profile client base. In doing so, your engaging and clear communication style will win over clients, production, and sales teams alike, and you’ll enjoy taking a hands-on approach.

Our client has two office locations available to you – JLT, Dubai and Sharjah based on the need.

An appropriate design qualification is sought, and 2-3 years in structural packaging design (not graphic artistry) is essential.

Job Responsibilities:
- Follow the Design Centre 4D Design Process.
- Able to generate high quality ideas, concepts, solutions through sketching and prototyping.
- Review packaging design, manufacturing and materials to reduce the total cost of packaging.
- Prepare, develop proposals and present to the client with a comprehensive action plan.
- Conduct on-site packaging audits, specification reviews, lab testing and trials of packaging concepts.
- Responsible for the organization, storage and distribution for all design specifications, revision control, assembly instructions and manufacturing releases files
- Stays current with Impact Cad or Artios CAD, CAPE, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe suite and other software updates, industry standards and technology developments
- Calibrates and ensures that cutting table and proofer are working well and makes full utilization of their capability

As part of your application, we will be looking for an evidence portfolio show-casing the structural concepts and design projects you have worked on. Interviews for this position are likely to be held early July, so please be aware of this.

Requirements

- Advanced level experience using 2D/3D software (Impact CAD or Artios CAD, CAPE, Adobe Suite, etc.).
- 2-3 plus years’ experience in Packaging Design and Development (UAE Experience is not mandatory)
- BS in Engineering, Design, Packaging Science or a similar discipline.
- Experience with Adobe CS suite for graphic interaction is required. 3D modeling and presentation skills are beneficial.
- Experience working with folding carton, flexible label products, point-of-purchase.
- Knowledge of production processes, machine limitations and production standards are required
