Taylor Sterling is currently representing a leading construction and engineering group with a diverse range of services. Client specialises in structural steel fabrication and erection. The client has delivered some of the most iconic projects worldwide from complex stadiums with retractable roofs through to observation wheels, airport terminals, industrial facilities, process plants, commercial buildings, convention centres and museums. Client is looking to hire an experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join their team in Dubai.
The estimator is responsible for preparation of proposals including structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, installation/erection and various other special conditions. Must be proficient in take-off materials, shop labor, field labor, equipment requirements and have the knowledge to understand and foresee difficult and complex erection scenarios and make adjustments to the proposal to account for them.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
- Prepare bid packages for structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
- Prepare conceptual estimates for structural steel design build/design assist projects.
- Review all bid documents – plans, specifications, schedules, bid forms, and prepare detailed take-offs.
- Obtain subcontractor proposals best suited for the project.
- Prepare written proposals in compliance with the bid documents.
- Perform post bid follow up and negotiations.
- Review and price RFI's.
Requirements
3-5 years industry experience in Structural and Miscellaneous Steel Estimating desired
The ability to read and interpret design drawings, blue prints, specifications and bid documents.
An understanding of fabrication and erection processes, AISC standards, and AWS codes.
Strong math skills are required.
