Job description / Role
The purpose of this role is to support international students in their transition and adjustment to life at ADU while ensuring that they successfully maintain their visa status throughout their duration of studies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Admissions and serve as a primary point of contact for international students, to provide them with essential information and documents in timely manner
- Facilitate pre-arrival procedures to ensure students receive proper advice and guidance prior to their arrival to ADU
- Coordinate a comprehensive orientation program for new international students
- Collaborate with the Housing and Residence Life Officer to arrange student housing, as needed
- Develop and implement activities that will encourage and increase international student connectedness, satisfaction and retention
- Process student visas, renewals and health insurance cards for students under the sponsorship of the university.
- Communicate regularly with students regarding their visa obligations to help them avoid any potential violations of the student visa policy; address violations, if any, with diligence, fairness and consistency.
- File all related documents appropriately and in an organized manner
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 0-1 year in a higher education setting; demonstrated evidence of involvement with student activities as a student or recent graduate
- Multicultural competencies and a clear understanding of the unique needs of international students
- Computer literacy, organization skills, communication skills
- Presentation and facilitation skills
- Counseling skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with government and other external entities
- Event management
- English is required, Arabic is preferred
