Hartland International School seeks to appoint an exceptional teacher of primary art to support our expansion and provision across this phase of the school.

Due to our expansion, applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals who are passionate and forward thinking and who will thrive in the vibrant learning environment of Hartland. By being ambitious, not only for students but for yourself, you will help us build and maintain a successful programme of study in art by sharing in the responsibility for teaching, learning, enrichment and pastoral care. The successful candidate will also be expected to make a contribution to our unique and strong enrichment programme which ensures that learning and opportunity are diverse for all.
Art, craft & design is taught across all key stages, from years 1 to 9, with a curriculum that aligns with the English National Curriculum but is tailored to meet the needs of each individual pupil. At both GCSE and A level, students follow the Edexcel Art and Design and Edexcel Photography courses, developing their creative, technical, and analytical skills through a range of practical and contextual studies.
Our dedicated art department boasts a suite of five purpose-built rooms, including a photography studio and a ceramics room, all overseen by a full-time art technician. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and three sinks, ensuring a well-equipped learning environment.
We firmly believe in providing students with opportunities beyond the classroom, recognizing the value of competitions and extracurricular activities in enhancing their learning experience. Throughout the year, we organize various trips to support exam preparation and coursework development. Additionally, we offer a diverse range of in-house clubs catering to students from primary through to secondary levels, allowing them to explore the joys of art at every stage.
At the end of the academic year, we celebrate students' hard work and creativity through our art & design showcase, which runs for two weeks.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification in primary teaching
- Have experience of teaching primary art in the UK or in an international setting or evidence of personal artwork would be welcomed
- Have a minimum two years teaching experience
- Have exceptional communication skills
- Be committed to the Hartland values
