Role summary
Chepstow House School are currently looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated teaching assistant to join our team from January 2026. Please note that this is a 1-year fixed term contract.
This role would suit a recent graduate looking to do a PGCE course in the future.
The successful candidate will work within a year group team to maintain an innovative, dynamic, and high-achieving setting. They will also need to interact and support children in a positive way to foster their enthusiasm for learning. A willingness to contribute fully to the extracurricular activities and the life of the school is vital.
Key responsibilities
- Interact and support children (under the direction of the teacher) in a positive way to foster enthusiasm for learning
- Work with the class teacher in preparing work, putting up displays, and assisting as required within the classroom
- Supervise breaks and lunchtime play
- Take responsibility for hearing the children read on a daily basis, updating their reading records, and monitoring their progress
- Conduct lessons (if required) according to the agreed policy and syllabus
- Contribute fully to the extracurricular activities and life of the school
- Be a committed, dynamic, and proactive teaching assistant and a cheerful, friendly, and cooperative team member
- Be supportive and positive in interactions with team members and pupils
- Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance, and punctuality
- Involve themselves fully in the life of the school
- Value and be willing to promote the caring ethos of the school
The ideal candidate will have
- Enhanced DBS and prohibition order clearance
- Awareness of and adherence to safeguarding, Prevent Duty, anti-bullying, and behaviour and discipline policies of the school
- IT literacy
- Commitment to making a difference to all children of all abilities and talents, using a variety of teaching styles to aid learning
- Be a committed, dynamic, and proactive teaching assistant and a cheerful, friendly, and cooperative member of staff
- Be supportive and positive in interactions with team members and pupils
- Maintain excellent levels of appearance, attendance, and punctuality
- Involve themselves fully in the life of the school
