Employment: Full Time

Teaching Assistant (British Curriculum) - Al Rabeeh Academy

To provide support to a Class Teacher and ensure students' needs and concerns are attended, to provide supervision for students on the buses and ensure they are all safe and accounted for between home and school.

Overall Responsibility

• Support the Class Teacher, Grade Leader, Phase Leader and other staff members on a daily basis
• Cover for absent TAs
• Communicate with class teacher/Head of Year regarding any potential issues, problems or ways to move the school forward.
• Complete playtime, lunchtime, behaviour support and end of school duties in line with duty rota
• Report any health and safety concerns of matters to the relevant person/department
• Be willing and flexible to take on additional responsibilities within the school to further professional development
• Attend regular support staff or whole staff meetings
• Prepare resources based on direction from the class teacher or relevant staff member
• To receive and respond to complaints, liaising with other staff and seeking advice from HOY or SLT and clarification as and when required.

Curriculum Responsibility

• Support the class teacher to deliver highly effective inspiring lessons
• Create effective learning environments by developing ongoing interactive displays and working walls
• Assemble and arrange teaching and learning resources in liaisons with the class teacher
• Keep up to date with developments in Primary Education
• Support class teachers in the organisation and delivery of enrichment opportunities for children such as theme days or weeks e.g. Innovation Week
• To lead and support with targeted interventions for specific students to develop reading, writing and maths skills
• Support the teacher in differentiated group work in all lessons where directed
• Organise equipment and distribute books and materials whilst maintaining the cleanliness of the classroom where needed
• Encourage children’s oral language through play, books, stories, and personal interaction

Bus Responsibilities

• Provide assistance and order for students during school bus journey’s to and from school, or on educational visits
• Greeting students as they board, showing passengers to their assigned seats and making sure they buckle their seatbelts and are safe to travel
• Pay specific attentions to students with Special Educational Needs
• Ensure and promote positive behaviour from students
• Accompanies students from the bus to the school entrance and keeps account of the number of students and accurate register of students in their care

Reporting Responsibilities

• Report to the class teacher about the learning of individual children from focus/intervention groups that they come into contact with
• Provide verbal feedback to children about their learning
• Be aware of pupils progress through discussion with the class teacher and deliver intervention where required
• Prepare and collate assessments through direction from class teacher
• Assist in the filing of planning sheets, assessment records and update the student files where necessary
• Offer feedback on student learning following observations

Responsibilities to Students

• Ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils in the class
• Inform Class Teacher or appropriate staff member about any children who may raise concern both academically and socially
• Encourage students to engage in activities and interact with others
• Work with a range of children from all ability groups to help them to maximise their full learning potential
• Have high expectations of all pupils
• Report any illness or concerns to the class teacher/nurse

Responsibilities to Parents

• Communicate and assist parental queries before and after school where necessary, reporting to class teacher or SLT when applicable
• Support parents during school events or appointments (if applicable) to navigate around the school and inform on timings

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience

• 2-5 year’s teaching assistant or shadow teacher experience
• Knowledge of current UAE/ADEK regulations regarding school proficiency standards
• Solid understanding of child development and needs
