Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Core Tasks
- Ensure vessels operate with minimum down-time and maximum utilization
- Troubleshooting of engines/machinery defect and repair

Technical Follow-up and Maintenance
- Daily technical follow-up of the ships assigned to him/her
- Check and adjust the weekly/monthly work list, in consultation with the captain/chief engineer and Technical Manager
- Follow up the technical performances of the ships by means of communication, reports and visits on board, in order to optimize the maintenance level
- Prepare repair specifications for subcontractors and follow-ups their execution
- Daily technical follow up of auxiliary equipment in collaboration with Technical Manager
- Evaluate technical shortcomings or wear and tear of the ship and make suggestions for improvement in consultation with the Captain, the Chief Engineer, and Technical Manager

Stock Management
- Follow up abnormal consumption of the board inventory
- Follow up board inventory and technical orders to third parties
- Search for reliable local alternatives for urgent purchases, in consultation with Technical Manager/SCM and the Chief Engineer

Repairs
- Schedules and supervises vessel repairs, dry docking and surveys
- Preparation of docking specifications, docking budgets, control docking and repair cost effectively, final preparation of the docking cost summary and report
- Liaison with clients/charterers and class surveyors on technical and operational matters
- Commissions new vessels and sea trials

Technical Administration
- Draw up/ Review and ensure engineering designs/drawings, technical specification and documentation
- Reviewing - engine and deck log, preparation of log review, F.O & LO consumption monitoring, monitoring of in house Poseidon [PMS program]
- Ensure accuracy and compliance of reporting requirements on board
- Analyze engine and deck log (deck log for ops), preparation of log review, FO & LO consumption monitoring, monitoring of in house Poseidon (PMS Program, weekly defect report)

Requirements

- University Qualifications: Engineering Degree
- Other certifications obtained: Chief Engineer Class I
- Nature and length of previous experience: 5 years experience as TSI in Middle East
- Specialist knowledge: Chief Engineer experience for minimum 2 years
- Age Range: 30 - 50
- Current Location: UAE
