Telecommunication Design Engineer

Job description / Role

• Receives Project documentation and understands Scope of Work related to his discipline.
• Review technical offers, and verify compliance with project specifications and requirements.
• Review of technical and materials submittals of projects, and insure compliance with project scope, specifications and requirements.
• Coordinate with the project manager for the schedule of design and engineering activities and establish target completion dates for electrical, mechanical & civil designs to ensure target dates are achieved within the project schedule.
• Attending, hosting and coordinating meetings with third party designers (subcontractors), vendors, consultant and client to resolve technical issues.
• Assist in reviewing of tenders.
• Participate in the development and/or improvement of company procedures that are associated with the design and engineering works.

Requirements

• Qualification: Bachelor degree or higher in electrical/electronics engineering (preferred in Telecommunication).

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 5+ year’s progressive experience as an electrical design engineer in relevant field.
• Good knowledge in Multiplex/Optical Systems, IP Networks, PAX system and advanced knowledge in PDH & SDH systems.
• Strong knowledge of international standards and norms and electrical utilities specifications, especially in UAE.
• Good understanding of substations telecommunication equipment selection and sizing.
• Good knowledge of substation automation (SCMS) and SCADA.
• Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
• Strong leadership skill set and a proven track record of leadership and holding teams accountable.
• Preferable experience in design of grid stations (TRANSCO/DEWA).
