Serco is currently seeking a Transition Manager who will be responsible for developing high-quality transition/mobilisation programmes within bids and overseeing the initial phases of the subsequent mobilisation/transition programme (prior to hand over to the deliver manager/business unit mobilisation manager) on time and within budget. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing and overseeing a core programme of work within a bid delivery team, managing key internal Serco relationships during the process and will work on new opportunities across the Serco Middle East business sectors (Integrated Facilities Management, Aviation, Defence and Transport).

Reporting to the Head of Bidding the successful applicants will be responsible for;

- Designing, planning and executing high quality transitions/mobilisations on individual opportunities across our sectors. The opportunities will range in size and complexity.
- Working with the bid team to create, implement and manage a transition project plan and strategy as a core component of a winning bid
- Preparing and delivering essential bid documentation relevant to the transition and mobilisation components including; mobilisation approach, dependencies, risk / issues / opportunities register, action log, team information
- Ensuring appropriate governance is followed, and all relevant approvals are obtained
- Planning projects in a structured manner and ensure the end to end project lifecycle is fully managed
- Ensuring projects follow best industry practice and compliance with business processes and the Serco Management System
- Working closely with stakeholders agree with the business requirements and scope for the project, developing effective working relationships and ongoing management processes for the project
- Liaising with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path.
- Monitoring and tracking project milestones and deliverables
- Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations within the agreed format and timeframe
- Tracking project milestones and deliverables.
- Proactively managing changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and devise contingency plans.
- Defining project success criteria and communicating them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
- Documenting preparation for meetings and assist with collation of management reports where necessary.
- Willingness to travel to site locations when necessary.
- Managing and mentoring more junior members of the Bidding Team providing support to their continued learning and professional development
- Where external contractors are allocated to a bid team, ensuring smooth integration into the bid team and providing ongoing management of the individuals
- Developing a budget relevant to the transition components of the project.
- Managing and delivering the mobilisation project to budget.
- Supporting the monitoring and improvement of the quality of bid submissions ensuring high standards of attention to detail
- Engaging with Business Development and Client Directors to establish Programme requirements; update central pipeline of projects (bids, acquisitions, transitions, etc)
- Providing the written inputs for pre-mobilisation, mobilisation, business readiness and transition proposals, qualification documents, bids, IC submissions and others as required.
- Assisting Bid leads, Client Directors and Sponsors with solution architecture or project management where required.

Requirements

Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge and qualifications:

- A minimum of 5 years' experience of project management and implementation
- Team management experience
- Experience of working within a project delivery environment
- Experience of the whole project life cycle
- Attention to details and analytical skills
- Problem solving and decision making
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Excellent inter-personal and relationship building skills
- The ability to have a strong impact and influence key decisions
- The ability to foster motivation within the project team to meet tight deadlines
- Working knowledge of MS Project and MS Office
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in a Business, Communications or other relevant discipline essential
- Project management qualifications desirable (e.g. PRINCE2/APMP)
- Ability and willingness to work out of hours
