VAT Senior Manager

Job description / Role

Our client, an international investment house in Dubai is looking for a VAT Senior Manager to implement VAT across the group and it's subsidiaries. The role offers complete autonomy with a competitive family package.

Description
* Lead, manage and advise on value added tax implementation to the organisation.
* Provide inputs to develop and implement strategies ensuring compliance with local laws and accounting standards.
* Contribute to the development & implement VAT principles, policies and processes to ensure completion and compilation of VAT mechanism and registrations across the businesses.
* Provide periodic training and mentorship to finance, supply chain and other relevant departments in regards to VAT implementation, documentation and compliance.
* Ensuring the organisation to be up-to-date on changes in VAT legislation's
* Determine the VAT compliance implications associated with various business initiatives/proposals
* To represent the organisation at any consultative hearings, to substantiate and/or provide necessary support to audit queries.
* To prepare an annual report on the VAT activities with particular reference to the benefits generated.
* To act as the single point of contact for all VAT-related activities
* Manage the system enhancements and process re-engineering because of VAT implementation
* File VAT returns, supporting schedules and any documentation/responses as may be required by Tax Authorities.
* Provision of advice on VAT to user departments on the implication of VAT on their activities and processes, and work along with such departments to find a win-win solution for the organisation.
* Detection and evaluation of risks as well as opportunities regarding respective tax issues.

Requirements

* A minimum of seven years of experience in VAT, preferably with implementation experience and leading a VAT environment with a major international organisation
* Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field of study from an accredited college/university; licensed CPA, LL.M., MST (Masters in Taxation), IIT VAT Compliance Diploma, CA, CTA, AITI, or Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI) designation
* Strong technical awareness of global indirect tax issues; understanding of key indirect tax processes and data drivers
* Self-motivated, ability to generate and plan work effort and manage project schedules/priorities with clear written and verbal communications
* Ability to develop and maintain existing internal and client relationships and help to build new relationships with key local office targets
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, or process mapping software; ability to travel thirty percent of the time
