About Group Finance

Finance supports the Mubadala group by creating and maintaining centers of functional excellence and high quality output in the field of Business planning, statutory reporting, internal financial reporting standards, financial controllership, business valuations, financial governance and more.

We provide high quality financial resource to support the Platform Finance teams in partnering with their Platforms/Units and Assets. We drive a culture across the group wide Finance function(s) of continuous improvement and striving towards the highest possible standards

The Challenge

As Mubadala moves to the next phase of maturity, our focus is to realize the value of our assets and expand our investment footprint globally. This is a great opportunity to work in partnership with our industry platform leaders.

You will be responsible for objectively determining the value created within our Portfolio of Assets for the purposes of measuring and rewarding performance. Such a task requires a collaborative approach that balances the differing views of our various stakeholders within a challenging and diverse environment. Additionally, you will be acting as a trusted advisor providing support to the leadership and management of Mubadala's platforms within a center of excellence for all matters of valuation.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Development

- Identify and act upon opportunities to further one's knowledge of, and exposure to, Mubadala's operations across both the corporate and platform level in order to develop one's own professional capabilities.
- Support the development of more junior colleagues by providing regular feedback and on-the-job development experience in order to build capability within the function.

Valuations

- Develop the group-level valuation methodology, processes and tools in order to deliver a comprehensive annual valuation of the Group's assets.
- Analyze, validate and consolidate group-wide annual valuations, and provide detailed insight to the Budget and Business Planning Committee to inform decision-making.
- Develop group-level reports and presentation in relation to assets' valuations in order to provide impactful analyses and recommendations to aid management decision-making.
- Conduct quarterly valuation updates at a group-level, ensuring that platform / business function valuation updates are reflected in a timely manner to support senior-level decision-making.
- Ensure all valuations received are of high quality and are supported by adequate and reliable underlying assumptions and drivers in order to generate effective reports.

Technical Expertise

- Work closely with the Platform Finance teams in order to support and align methodology and guidelines implementation, resolve issues, mitigate risks, and ensure timely and effectively completion of assets' annual valuations.
- Provide guidance and support to Platform Finance teams to cascade the group-level valuation methodology into wholly-owned assets in order to ensure consistency and efficiency in conducting valuation activities.
- Build and manage effective relationships with Platform Finance teams to deliver financial thought leadership in the assets in order to ensure group-level delivery on valuation and initiate corrective action where appropriate.

Policies, Systems, Processes and Procedures

- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for the continuous improvement of functional systems, processes and practices taking into account 'international leading practice' in order to improve business processes, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Implement all relevant functional policies, processes, procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge, skills and experience

- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business administration.
- Relevant professional accounting qualification such as CA or ACCA.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressively more complex and senior-level roles, in valuation, with an increasing emphasis on supporting and developing junior team members.
- Preferably, working experience in a multi-national consulting firm in a financial advisory practice, or experience working in a private equity firm or investment bank.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal and team working skills.
- Strong knowledge of valuation methodologies and tools.
- Good understanding of broader areas of finance including business performance, financial planning and management reporting.
- Strong command on financial modelling and other quantitative tools, and ability to support junior colleagues in implementation.
- Ability to shape and lead problem solving, and drive insightful solutions.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to advice and influence at various organizational levels.
- Good analytical skills.
