Duties and responsibilities
Purpose
To execute and supervise all fabrication maintenance activities including minor projects in Upper Zakum Field. Implement pre and final hook ups and conversion of well of WHPT’s, facility changes, PSIM, RIE reports and execute and supervise timely intervention in events of loss of containment of pressure system leaks. To supervise various projects executed by ADNOC Head Quarter as Site Job Officer. All fabrication activities on top surface facilities in UZ field.
Key accountabilities
- Responsible for planning and implementing all maintenance hot work activities in Zakum and hook up activity in WHPT as per rig chart.
- Fix the priority of jobs based on criticality and safety and deploy suitable workforce.
- Utilize awarded budget for materials, workforce, and services provided from HQ.
- Evaluate and decide the supplier of material based on technical evaluation.
- Ensure that all fabrication, welding, and installation activities are within accordance with company standing instructions and international standards.
- Review and study the engineering package from ADNOC HQ, provide comments for implementation methodology in accordance with company procedure, material compatibility, specification, and workforce requirements.
- Technical qualification and evaluation of supplier’s bid provided by commercial section to be carried out in accordance with material specification.
- Execute and supervise minor projects at site in consultation with ADNOC Head Quarter Job Officer as per the scope of work effectively.
- Raise service requests for any support required from the Head Quarter through the system and follow up progress to ensure requested works are delivered as specified.
- Ensure all fabrication and machining equipment and tools are maintained as per schedule and safe for use.
- Organize planned shutdown activities by arranging tools and materials in advance to accomplish shutdown activities effectively.
- Conduct permit audits, tool and equipment audits, and HSE observations.
- Annually conduct welder’s qualification test in consultation with the Inspection Engineer.
- Educate and train UAE developees.
- Have thorough knowledge about fabrication principles, materials and fittings of pressure vessels, tanks, plant piping, hot tapping, and structural as per international standards such as ASME, API, BS, and AWS.
- Have good knowledge about central lathe, milling, and drilling equipment and experience with precision measurement tools such as vernier calipers, inside and outside micrometers, bore gauges, dip gauges, etc.
- Understand and apply Materials Maintenance Management System (Maximo) for material take off from in-house stores and outsourcing materials by preparing purchase requisitions.
- Have clear knowledge about different types of steel and alloy materials and their utilization based on plant process piping.
- Motivate the team to build safety consciousness and encourage them by conducting toolbox talks and writing HSE observation reports for any anomalies.
- Maintain inventory records of all materials, tools, and equipment for monitoring, updating, and replenishing items as required.
- Keep records of contractor employees related to their personal information, HSE, and periodical and mandatory training.
Generic accountabilities
Supervision
Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. Lead and manage a group of welders, fabricators, and machinists to meet site fabrication maintenance requirements on process piping, structural, and WHPT pre and final hook up works. Ensure works are executed safely and strictly adhere to company HSEMS system and procedures along with good housekeeping practices. Train and develop assigned staff on relevant skills to enable proficiency on the job and delivery of section objectives.
Policies, systems, processes and procedures
Consult with planning and other trade counterparts for fabrication-related work requested and accomplish works effectively as planned, including unplanned day-to-day works. Execute, monitor, and control work packages and fabrication activities for all primary, secondary, and tertiary structural elements throughout all UZ Oil Field installations in line with site responsibilities towards AIMS and SIMS. Work extends to all steel work related to equipment within process, utility, and accommodation plants. Study and understand piping isometric, plant layout, P&ID, plant plot plan drawings and prepare necessary sketches or isometric drawings to conduct fabrication, repair, and modification of various types of plant piping and structures in accordance with company procedures, standards, codes, and practices. Conduct site surveys based on job requirements and in conjunction with other sections to complete work effectively. Follow up with Commercial section to issue requisition materials to site on time as specified and consult with different sections within field and ADNOC head quarter to resolve any issues related to plant fabrication and project works. Review Welding Procedure Specifications for new jobs and conduct tests in accordance with company procedures or international standards.

Health, safety, environment (HSE) and sustainability
Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC Code of Practices. Participate in emergency response duties as a team member. Organize and conduct Job Safe Analysis and risk assessments with other trades for critical nature jobs.
Qualifications
Minimum qualification
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum experience, knowledge and skills
10 years’ experience in fabrication and welding field, of which at least 5 years’ experience at supervisor level in oil-related or petrochemical industries.
Professional certifications
American Welding Society (AWS) – Welding inspector course or equivalent.
Computer knowledge in using MS Office applications.
Technical competencies
Responsible for planning, implementing, managing, and monitoring all major department activities in line with the maintenance management system. Work in accordance with established procedures and specialized technical standards. Understand and interpret related codes and standards such as ASME 31.3, 16.5, Sec V, VIII & IX, AWS D1.1, API 510 & 570, etc. Familiar with the use of computerized maintenance management systems such as Maximo.
