Job description / Role
The main purpose of this position is to plan and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance activities and follows up on related repairs, ensuring related completion and abidance by set safety and health standards and instructions.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Approves the preventive maintenance plan, as per odometer and hour meter.
• Organizes maintenance work activities among staff members and allocates duties among teams, following up on related completion.
• Checks inspection list and ensures that proper corrective actions were taken, following up on pending major findings.
• Follows up on pending work orders sent by the Vehicle Control, distributing activities among team members and providing related feed back to the Manager.
• Follows up on major mechanical and electrical malfunctions and repetitive breakdowns.
• Coordinates with Procurement for external Services Provider for outstanding malfunctions and breakdowns, following up on related service.
• Inspect breakdowns and malfunctions, providing guidelines and instructions on needed repairs, referring to the part and repair manual if need be.
• Suggest solution and action plans on repetitive breakdowns.
• Reports detected abuse on vehicle to the Manager, providing related technical advice to the Vehicle Control.
• Ensures proper data entry on system and prepares related work progress report, to be submitted to Manager.
• Monitors his subordinates’ attendance by reviewing work and leave schedules, and related overtime hours.
• Reports major shortfalls or breach of regulations to the Manager and provides necessary information for inspections, recommending disciplinary action if needed.
• Assesses subordinates performance as per set criteria, recommending incentive payments for staff members.
• Reviews manpower time sheets and sends to Manager for overtime approval.
• Follows up on technicians technical trainings, ensuring that used technologies and working instruction are well understood.
• Assesses the need of materials and consumables, coordinates accordingly with the Manager, sending related requests Procurement.
• Controls consumption of materials, as per work order, reporting exceeded consumption to the Manager.
• Ensures proper use of equipment and investigates any accidental damage or abuse, providing related recommendations
Complies with the Health & Safety instructions:
• Responsible in exercising due diligence towards health & safety of self & others in the organization
• Responsible to comply with the applicable HSE procedures, instructions, requirements, standards received from regulatory and statutory bodies
• Responsible for reporting to superior occurrences, events, violations and acts that may impact staff health and safety or the environment
PERFORMANCE MEASURES/SUCCESS CRITERIA:
• Plan preventive maintenance activities and follows up on detected findings
• Monitors all corrective maintenance activities and repairs, following up on related completion.
• Monitors the use of equipment and tools and the expenditure of materials at the workshop.
Requirements
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• UAE National
• Fluent in English
• Arabic as a second language is an advantage
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills – MS proficient
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
• Knowledge in nature of the job
• Strong technical knowledge related to fleet management
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability in leading a team of workshop employees
