Course Overview

Our distance learning UK, EU & US Copyright Law Postgraduate Diploma/MA programme will introduce you to the main International Copyright Conventions. It deals with a wide range of rights (e.g. literary, dramatic, artistic works), as well as covering infringement and remedies, and looks at the challenges presented by international communication through satellite and the internet. This programme is studied by professionals alongside full time work commitments. The estimated time commitment is 240 hours of self study plus 32 hours teaching at the weekend seminars. Further time is needed in April for the coursework and May for examination preparation. Students are expected to manage their time independently.

Please note that the optional MA (second year) is only available for application once the Postgraduate Diploma has been completed.

Who should take this course

Applicants must normally hold a 2:1 undergraduate degree in law or a related discipline, or be a qualified barrister or solicitor. Applications from candidates who have achieved a comparable academic level through past studies and where previous study, work or experience has made the applicant a suitable candidate for admission may also be considered.

Courses are divided into modules. You will normally take:

  • PG Diploma - modules totalling 120 credits
  • MA - modules totalling 180 credits (120 credits from the Pg Dipoma and 60 credits for the dissertation)
