Job Title: Design Director

Position Description:
- To be responsible for the operations and overall design performance for one of the following design architecture.
- To be responsible for operational performance as measured by total turnover, efficiency (cost development),profitability, variance from budgets, strategy development for the design.
- Mentor, train, supervise and manage design directors and senior designers and ensure design directors and designers adhere to corporate policy.
- Assist in marketing, business development and general representation of the company.
- Liaise with Creative Director in reviewing project planning and subordinate designer work flows.
- Review scope of work and undertake regular reviews of the projects to ensure their delivery in accordance with project programme and to the quality standards.
- Assist in marketing, business development and general representation of the company.

RELATED TASK:

Project Setup
- Review the client brief and approve the same along with Creative Director.
- Review all statutory requirements applicable on the project in conjunction with the Creative Director.
- Review list of documents to form the design documentation and working drawings package
- Review all contracts with Managing Director and Legal Director and ensure they are in compliance with standard contracts.

Design and Documentation
- Review work progress in conjunction with the creative director on all projects on a regular basis and review all key project stages with Executive Director or Managing Director.
- Oversee the site visits and attend site meetings as required.

Project Management
- Review all proposal preparation including scope of work, exclusions and fees with Managing Director.
- Coordinate with the client’s cost consultant /QS to develop and finalize budget details
- Review final project cost plan with Design Director.
- Review and when appropriate submit claim for additional fee or cost variations on projects.

IT
- Coordinate with the IT team to update the design database which includes 3D presentation images, AutoCAD Library, photographs, products and project

Marketing
- Add and update information in Microsoft Outlook Programme including contacts categories
- Prepare appropriate proposals
- Communicate brand and image.

Administration
- Report to the Managing Director
- Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports/ personnel
- Provide regular reports detailing significant operational activities
- Provide quarterly reports on strategy implementation

Quality
- To ensure that the Quality Management System is implemented and maintained and to evaluate where continual improvement can be made.

Corporate Management
- Responsibilities include recruiting, developing and managing the work performance and behavior of all studio employees.

Finance
- Develop and implement strategy, business plan and target, resources for areas of responsibility.
- Review and submit to finance department monthly billing projections and ensure the projections are met and exceeded.
- Ensure monthly, quarterly and yearly revenue and income projections are reviewed and achieved.
- Ensure quarterly and annual AR targets are not exceeded.

Requirements

- Bachelor degree in design or related fields
- At least 10 to 15 years experience especially in high-end projects with HOSPITALITY, RESIDENTIAL AND RETAIL SECTORS.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Time management skills
- Entrepreneurial – goal orientated, strong marketer
- Industry knowledge – customers, quotation process, site supervision
- Good written and spoken English
