JOB DESCRIPTION / ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee and manage the laboratory operations in the field of civil construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the laboratory, maintaining high quality standards, and managing a team of laboratory technicians. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to major civil construction projects in Qatar and play a key role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials and processes.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess the performance and accuracy of laboratory equipment and testing procedures.
- Lead and mentor a team of laboratory technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to provide timely and accurate testing and analysis of construction materials, such as concrete, asphalt, and soil.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of laboratory test results and findings.
- Participate in the procurement and maintenance of laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Meet new clients and generate new business
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science / Geology, Chemistry, or related field. Master's degree preferred.- Proven experience in laboratory management within the civil construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction materials testing and quality control.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards and testing methodologies, such as ASTM, AASHTO, BS EN, ISO and ACI.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of laboratory technicians.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and proficiency in using relevant software for data analysis and reporting.
- Certification as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Certified Materials and Testing Technician (CMTT) is NOT Mandatory.
- Thorough knowledge of working in line with ISO 17025-2017 accreditation
Salary:
USD
3,800 to 4,250
per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
