Course Overview

Goal Development

Step 1: Develop Goal Alignment Work Plan

  • Articulating the goals of the organization
  • Including the top management so that important activities can be done on priority basis and goals of the organization can be achieved

Step 2: Have Leadership Create Division/Department Goals

  • Determine time required for organization’s top administration to characterize division/department objectives
  • Help authority associate organizational objectives to division/department objectives
  • Ensure that authority gives equal priority to every objective ? Goal Alignment

Step 3: Ensure Uniform Understanding of Organization Goals and Alignment Strategy

  • Discussing the goals of the organization or department with other department in open forum, e.g., Goal Alignment Workshop, Decoding Strategic Plan Workshop, etc.
  • Demonstrating how the goals of the department can be aligned with the organization/department/division goals
  • Determining the total time needed by the management in order to define the goals of the department
  • Ensuring that the management has provided targets for each goal

Step 4: Identify Misalignment of Cross Organizational Goals

  • Identifying the goals that are not well-defined and have conflicts
  • Using consensus so that conflicts and deficiencies can be addressed
  • Creating action plan for the correction of misalignment

Step 5: Provide Support Tools to Identify and Resolve Goal Misalignment

  • Forming a checklist for the goals of organization’s department/division and illustrating how they can be linked with the goals of the department
  • Identifying the issues that might occur and giving possible solutions
