Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

AFGS is seeking an experienced Assistant Chef to provides support to the lead chef where food preparation is concerned.

KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Possess deep knowledge of food preparation activities, ingredients and food combinations
- The main duty of an assistant chef is to make sure that all ingredients are available for the chef so that he can cook without any hindrances or delays
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils
- Monitor food budgets and make sure that all supplies are bought within the set budget
- Controls cost by minimizing spoilage, waste, proper storage and exercising strict portion control

Requirements

- Knowledge of standard food preparation and storage techniques are considered a plus point and the ability to work in a high volume environment
- With good organizational and multi-tasking ability. Attention to detail is required
- Educated to a minimum of degree standard with 5 years’ relevant work experience with good interpersonal skills
- Afghanistan experience in a similar role
- Superior communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive work environment is critical to this role
- Due to the location of this position, applicants must be physically fit

Please note the following:
- Candidates who are immediately available will be given preference
- This position is site based and on a rotation of 6 months on, 14 days off
- Travel, accommodations, food and security provided by the employer
- 2 paid trips to Country of residence will be provided annually
